This position is part of the Research and Development department located in Waltham, MA and will be on-site. At Aldevron, we combine best-inclass products and service with the ideal operating environment to lay the groundwork for vital new discoveries worldwide. You will be a part of the R&D team and report to the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) responsible for building the scientific strategy for Aldevron’s research and development activities, and for communicating with the scientific and customer communities concerning capabilities and scientific product offerings.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Establish research priorities, resourcing, and scientific outcomes to achieve the company’s strategic goals and objectives.•Provide the scientific background knowledge needed to make important decisions and develop future strategic plans. Supervise key discovery experiments and development processes to advance the company’s pipeline programs towards development milestones.Mentor and develop direct R&D reports, contributing to the company’s IP portfolio for its R&D pipeline. Serve as the technical leader on core product/process initiatives to ensure new products and processes are developed to keepAldevron leading the industry.Develop and lead a high-performing scientific and technical cross-functional team of R&D. Interface directly with clients to establish client-specific product and process requirements and grow new businessopportunities.

The essential requirements of the job include:

12+ years of experience in biochemical research or related area.Track record of leading research collaborations with academia and industry.Experience leading teams, including direct supervision of researchers. Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in a scientific discipline related to Aldevron’s core business (Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics,Chemistry, etc.) and/or a Doctor of Medicine degree (M.D.)It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:Biochemical engineering principles, scale-up, and process optimization.Cloning techniques, synthetic DNA, and RNA experience.
