Vice President, Pricing Strategy & Competitive Intelligence

Here, your voice and ideas matter, your work makes an impact, and together, you will help us define the future of American Express. **How will you make an impact in this role?** The Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) organization is responsible for managing relationships with millions of Merchants and Partners around the world that facilitate American Express acceptance and enabling the day-to-day operations of our company’s payment network. The role of the Global Merchant & Network Pricing (GMNP) team is to design and implement global pricing strategies that support our coverage objectives and optimize our Discount Revenue. This revenue stream is the single largest source of American Express’ revenue and Merchant Pricing strategies play a key role in driving financial performance. **Key Responsibilities** The Vice President, Pricing Strategy & Competitive Intelligence is responsible for: **Pressure testing existing pricing strategies, identifying new opportunities, and developing an actionable mid-long term pricing vision all anchored to our core pricing principles** + Oversee and lead all pricing strategy projects + Pressure test existing pricing initiatives across partner segments and countries to drive enhancements + Develop critical and thought-provoking analyses that support the evolution of our pricing strategies + Develop mid-to-long term pricing roadmaps and drive buy-in with senior leadership and key business partners + Stay abreast of Regulatory changes globally and assess implications together with industry dynamics through internal and external resources in compliance with company policies + Provide consultative support to Regional Pricing teams to support them in advancing key pricing initiatives + Develop materials to educate and update business partners and senior leadership on payment dynamics along with strategic implications to AXP **Building and maintaining a global, best in class view of competitive network and acquirer pricing through research, analysis, and modeling; and driving the strategic work on evolving our core pricing principles to align price with value delivered to our merchants** + Oversee, maintain and lead all Competitive Intelligence (CI) activity, models, and pricing strategy projects to support optimal decision making + Stay abreast of regulatory changes globally and assess implications together with industry dynamics through internal and external resources in compliance with company policies + Refine existing merchant pricing initiatives across merchant segments and countries + Design merchant pricing strategies for new emerging payment models + Provide consultative support to Regional Pricing teams on all competitive intelligence projects + Develop internal and external materials to educate and update business **Required Qualifications:** + 10 Years’ experience in pricing or business-related discipline + Able to engage, motivate and develop a team of high-performing, high-energy colleagues + Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment + Strong strategic decision-making and influencing skills with ability to assess key decision levers, make recommendations and balance shareholder and customer objectives + Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to translate complex technical terms into key insights with linkages to business strategies and objectives + Superior written and oral communication and presentation skills + Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet critical deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously + Knowledge of proprietary acquiring systems + * MBA or other professional qualification preferred **Qualifications** Salary Range: $185,000.00 to $260,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
