**Overview**
We are seeking a highly accomplished and forward-thinking **Vice President of Data Engineering** to lead the strategy, design, and delivery of our enterprise data platforms. This individual will serve as both a hands-on technical leader and a senior executive, balancing architectural vision, people leadership, and technical execution. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment, has the ability to translate ambiguous business problems into scalable data solutions, and serves as a trusted advisor and mentor to both technical teams and business partners.
**Responsibilities**
+ Set the strategic direction for data engineering initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals and enterprise architecture.
+ Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and technical excellence.
+ Partner with product, analytics, and business leadership to anticipate data needs and deliver scalable, secure, and performant solutions.
+ Provide architectural oversight across databases, pipelines, APIs, and cloud infrastructure.
+ Oversee advanced database administration and development, including schema design, performance tuning, and access/security management.
+ Establish procedures for data governance, quality, lineage, and observability; build monitoring and alerting systems that ensure high fidelity data.
+ Lead optimization efforts for high-volume ETL and data processing workflows using Databricks, Python, AWS
+ Glue, and other modern platforms.
+ Drive adoption of Databricks for advanced data engineering, including Delta Lake, MLflow integration, and scalable Spark-based workloads.
+ Serve as final customer concern point for critical data engineering issues, driving root cause analysis and long-term remediation.
+ Champion modern tooling, automation, and DevOps practices (CI/CD, GitOps) within data engineering workflows.
+ Drive evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies, ensuring the team remains at the forefront of data engineering practices.
+ Act as a senior thought partner across the company, representing data engineering in executive discussions and external partnerships.
**Qualifications**
+ 10+ years of experience in data engineering, including leadership of large-scale data platforms and teams.
+ Proven experience designing, deploying, and optimizing ETL/ELT solutions with Databricks, AWS Redshift, Glue, S3, and Lambda.
+ Expert-level Databricks hands-on experience, including Spark optimization, Delta Lake, notebooks, and MLflow.
+ Expert-level Python skills, with strong experience in software engineering best practices (testing, CI/CD, modular design).
+ Advanced expertise in PostgreSQL (stored procedures, functions, performance optimization).
+ Deep familiarity with APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
+ Deep understanding of cloud-native architectures, data modeling, and distributed systems.
+ Strong track record supporting analytics, BI, and data science teams with scalable, high-quality data solutions.
+ Experience managing vendor relationships, tool evaluations, and technology roadmaps.
+ Excellent communication and executive presence; ability to translate technical concepts into business outcomes.
+ Demonstrated success building and leading high-performing teams in fast-paced environments.
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; advanced degree preferred.

Compensation Range: $172,000 - $198,000 annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
