The Vice President, Operational Risk Management, Technology, Infrastructure and Innovation (TI&I) provides strategic direction, leadership, and management for the identification, measurement, and monitoring of operational risk for assigned business units, in addition to operational risk type and regulatory compliance management oversight. This role ensures effective internal control processes are in place and provides leadership in the assessment, remediation, and monitoring of operational risks.

In this capacity, the Vice President works closely with business unit leaders, peers in Risk Management, and other stakeholders to ensure a consistent and collaborative approach to operational risk management.

What You’ll be Doing

Strategic Oversight and Portfolio Management: provide an independent perspective on operational risk and controls within assigned portfolios in TI&I.  Partner with executive leaders to provide guidance, oversight, and effective challenge in the assessment and establishment of internal controls, ensuring alignment with CIBC’s Operational Risk Management Framework and Control Framework.  Provide reporting on the operational risk posture of TI&I and assigned operational risk types.

Operational Risk Oversight: oversee operational risk types, including Technology, Information/Cyber Security, Data, Third Party, Business Interruption and Project risk, through effective challenge in governance forums, through operational risk tools and practices, and risk review and control maturity assessments.  For assigned regulatory compliance oversight function responsibilities, stay abreast of regulatory requirements and ensure controls are in-place and operating effectively.  Provide operational risk oversight of additional topics, including CIBC’s AI governance and risk management practices, our Operational Resilience Program, and Emerging Risks as it relates to areas the VP is accountable for.

Collaboration and Relationship Building: establish deep working relationships across all of TI&I and key business teams, Risk colleagues including regional/subsidiary 2nd line of defense partner teams, and Control Groups.  Engage with regulators and industry peers as required.  Maintain and deliver services as per defined intercompany agreements.

People Leadership and Team Development: build team and individual capabilities by providing development opportunities.  Manage performance by providing fair and accurate feedback and aligning individual goals with business priorities.  Create a positive work environment and champion CIBC’s mission, vision, and values.

What We’re Looking For

You can demonstrate experience and advanced knowledge of fields including Cyber, Technology, Third Party, Data, Business Interruption and Project risk management.

You’re a certified professional. Advanced degree in Business or related field or equivalent professional experience with a minimum of 10-15 years of industry-related experience.
