Vice President, Head of Manager Research, Advice & Wealth Management
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Vice President, Head of Manager Research to lead a global team of investment professionals responsible for all firm and product-level investment due diligence (both initial and ongoing). This critical role will shape the research and selection process for all investment products offered by Ameriprise Financial, including mutual funds, ETFs, SMAs and other investment strategies.

In this role, you will lead a high performing team in conducting rigorous due diligence on investment strategies across all asset classes and vehicles as well as chair the manager research investment committee. You will deliver in-depth research and make client facing recommendations that support advisor, and client needs as well as oversee portfolio management activities and ensure alignment. Additionally, you will manage key partner relationships with third-party asset managers and investment partners as well as collaborate with senior leadership to provide strategic input and effectively communicate on investment decisions. You will also play a key leadership role in new product development initiatives and partner cross-functionally across the organization to drive firmwide investment and business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and direct the execution of top-quality research and investment analysis. This includes initial and ongoing diligence for all products offered at Ameriprise as well as in-depth, client-facing recommendations related to mutual funds, ETFs, SMAs and investment strategists. In addition, manage partner relationships, interactions with third-party portfolio managers and the development of concise, well-written research.Lead the development of turn-key, research-driven, proprietary solutions that are responsive to the needs of clients, advisors and internal partners.Provide strategic direction for Manager Research and adapt strategies to changing circumstances as required. Clearly communicate the strategic direction of Manager Research to the team and key partners.Collaborate with internal partners to improve our current product offering and develop new solutions. Partner with the Product Management team to drive key business decisions, share information and resolve issues. Support sales initiatives, product development and marketing/communications.Lead projects as assigned, on time and within budget, including cross team/department projects as required. Ensure effective controls are in place to proactively manage risk and remain in compliance with company policies and procedures. Manage the budget for areas of responsibility and work to identify and solve potential challenges and opportunities. Provide effective leadership to direct reports incorporating performance management practices through individual performance plans, periodic reviews and feedback sessions, coaching and development.


Required Qualifications

Minimum of 15+ years of experience with investment and/or manager research.Proven leadership experience with a track record of building and developing high performing teams which includes 5+ years of experience leading small to mid-size teams. A proven track record of prior experience conducting manager research.Strong understanding of a broad range of investment products and vehicles. Exceptional communication and relationship management skills, including the ability to build credibility and trust with external asset managers and internal stakeholders.Proven ability to engage and collaborate across functions and at all levels of the organization, including executive leadership teams. Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to navigate complex organizations, build relationships and influence peers.Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; masters preferred.Series 7 & 24 required

Expertise in asset allocation, manager combinations and portfolio structuringExperience with analytical tools to analyze investments (Excel, FactSet, Morningstar Direct)Portfolio management experienceCFA, CFP, CAIA or CIMA preferred

Base Pay Salary

The estimated base salary for this role is $210,000-$260,000 per year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role.
