Financial Crime Compliance aligns current activities within Global Risk and helps to build these into a more integrated framework to conduct Customer Due Diligence which enables HSBC to manage financial crime risk more effectively. It builds stronger controls to improve the way Financial Crime Compliance risks are managed in order to spot gaps as well as trends so that the team can take action. We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Vice President, Financial Crime Sanctions.
Principal Responsibilities
In this role you will
Monitor Trade, Economic and Financial Sanctions (including sanctions programs administered by the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control, United Nations, and His Majesty’s Treasury’s Financial Sanctions, (collectively referred to herein as “Sanctions”), and global risk management framework to meet legislative and regulatory requirements in SingaporeAssist Head of Sanctions in providing oversight and management, of all aspects of Financial Crime Risk on sanctions including impact analysis of regulatory changes within SingaporeCollate potential breaches of sanctions from across the business lines subsidiaries in Singapore, report management and escalate to Heads of SanctionsAct as point of contact for internal stakeholders in relation to sanctions risk (including regulators) within SingaporeStay at the forefront of key regulatory changes to ensure proactive communication with business and implement appropriate policy and framework to manage the changesParticipate in and work with relevant local industry bodies and groups in relation to sanctions related initiatives, trends and proposalsProvide advice to business across Singapore on sanctions risk associated with prospective business, products and service and design mitigation controls and implement strategies as appropriateSome careers grow faster than others.

Degree holder with prior experience in sanctions advisory roles, ideally within Singapore-based financial institutionsAbility to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and meet tight deadlinesStrong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex regulations and address sanctions issues independentlyHigh attention to detail, logical reasoning, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a teamIn-depth understanding of Singapore’s regulatory framework on sanctions, including MAS requirements and local market risks, and familiarity with international sanctions regimes (e.g., Office of Foreign Assets Control, United Nations, United Kingdom, European Union) and their application in SingaporeTrack record of implementing or supporting enhancements to sanctions-related processes or systemsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to justify and clearly articulate decisions to stakeholdersProfessional certifications (e.g., Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS), International Compliance Association (ICA)) are advantageousTo be considered for this role, the relevant rights to work in Singapore is required.
