Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the Vice President, HR Business Partners & Labour Relations leads the strategy for both Labour Relations and Business HR. You will support business leaders by helping them manage people, process, and organizational growth following LCBO's strategic goals.
You'll oversee union relations, employee engagement, and HR support across the organization. You will also lead large teams, promote innovation, and help shape a positive workplace culture focused on customer service, operational efficiency, and employee experience.
As an important member of the HR leadership team, you'll work with the Chief People Officer to build partnerships and lead change across the organization. You will be someone who helps guide LCBO's mission, vision, and values.
About the Role
Lead Labour Relations Strategy (30%)
Act as lead negotiator in union contract talks and manage collective agreements.Develop LCBO's Labour Relations strategy to support business operations.Advise and gain support from the LCBO Board and leadership team on labour strategyWork with other departments to align labour strategies with our needs and lead innovation.Build relationships with union representatives to support collaboration.Monitor changes in labour laws and recommend actions to the Chief People Officer.Support HR Strategy Through Business Partnerships (20%)
Coach and advise leaders on HR topics like union relations, culture, workforce planning, talent, and employee relations.Provide strategic HR guidance to senior leaders across the organization.Lead Business HR Strategy (20%)
Develop and implement HR plans that support LCBO's goals.Guide leaders on HR strategies that support a purpose-driven and performance-focused culture.Support major organizational changes such as restructuring or growth plans.Address people-related risks and oversee HR data and reporting.Advance LCBO’s People Strategy (15%)
Align HR strategies with LCBO's overall team goals.Promote improvements in leadership, communication, and employee development.Build partnerships across HR and other support teams.Support the Chief People Officer and HR leadership team in driving enterprise-wide HR programs.Lead and Develop Teams (15%)
Lead a team of about 16 HR and Labour Relations professionals.Foster a culture of trust, innovation, and excellence.Support team development, performance, and succession planning.Step in for the Chief People Officer when needed.About You
Strategic and experienced HR leader with a strong background in Labour Relations and in Business Partnership with a passion for building positive workplaces.University degree in HR, Industrial Relations, Psychology, or a related field (Master's preferred).Experience in labour negotiations and union relations.Experience in the Public SectorComfortable presenting to and advising Boards and senior committees.Experience leading major organizational changes.Trusted leader who listens, follows through, and acts with integrity.Knowledge of HR and Labour Relations practices and laws.Accomplished at solving complex employee issues and giving advice, even in uncertain situations.Quick to adapt to changes in HR programs.Strong negotiation and influencing skills.Experience developing and delivering HR strategiesWe offer a comprehensive suite of benefits including:
