Job Summary
SummaryPerforms medical tests in a laboratory environment for use in the treatment and diagnosis of diseases in animals. Prepares vaccines and serums for prevention of diseases. Prepares tissue samples, take blood samples, and execute laboratory tests, such as urinalysis and blood counts. Clean and sterilize instruments and materials and maintain equipment and machines. May assist a veterinarian during surgery.

Essential Functions
-Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical factors accurately.
-Perform basic animal restraint and provide basic animal husbandry
-Take vitals (temperature, weight, height, blood pressure)
-Process patient specimens (blood, urine, breath)
-Prepare appropriate medical supplies for patient appointments
-Maintains animal records by documenting animal conditions, reactions, and changes; updating database.
-Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patient’s assigned ASA II & III classification.
Qualifications
Education Associate's Degree Veterinary Technology required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials Certified Laboratory Animal Technician [LAT] - American Association for Laboratory Animal Science preferred Experience experience in laboratory animal or veterinary care 1-2 years required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Strong understanding of all Office Suite. - Strong communication and organizational skills. - Strong and proven leadership skills. - Ability to work with staff of all levels. - Excellent time management skills. - Analytical and math skills. - Knowledge of Accounting Principles. - Ability to adapt to multiple and rapidly changing priorities and deadlines. - Knowledge of veterinary record keeping is required.
