VCA Blum Animal Hospital is expanding its Patient Care Team and seeking a full-time Certified Veterinary Technician!

Schedule: Full-time with rotating Saturdays.

Compensation: $22 - $25 / hr. Pay range and is determined by skill set and years of experience in the field.

Job Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

Perform laboratory work in cooperation with the veterinary teamEffectively perform sample collections such as venipuncture, cystocentesis, fecal collection, ear cytology, etc.Place IV catheters, administer vaccines, administer medications via oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous routesPrepare blood, urine, tissue, and other specimen samples for outside laboratory analysisWork in conjunction with all technical staff across the hospital to ensure hospitalized patients are receiving the best possible care and communicating frequently with the teamUse and maintain laboratory equipment, including the Idexx ProCyte and Catalyst hematology machines, the SediVue urinalysis machine, and SNAP ProUse digital radiography machineProperly  annotate medical recordsProvide client education including post-surgical discharge instructions, answering client questions during technician appointments, and phone call consultationsTriage emergency situationsSurgical preparation and monitoring, including calculation and administration of anesthetic drugsPerform dental prophylaxis and dental radiographs under the supervision of a veterinarian

Qualifications:

Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or eligible to transfer state license (LVT, RVT, LVMT) or eligible to sit for the VTNE within 3 months.
