Requisition ID: req58862 Job Title: Veterinary Service Training Facilitator Sector: Economic Recovery & Livelihood Employment Category: Regular Employment Type: Full-Time Open to Expatriates: No Location: Jazrah, Syria Job Description Background/Context: The IRC has operated in Syria since 2012, providing protection, health, economic recovery, and early childhood development programs in Idleb, Aleppo, Ar-Raqqa, Hassakeh, and Deir ez-Zor, with new programs expanding into Hama, rural Damascus, and Homs. With a team of over 700 members, the IRC has established trust and strong community relationships, ensuring access and effective service delivery. It plays a significant role in Syria’s NGO, donor, and coordination forums, holding key positions and adapting to the evolving context. With the new realities under the new government, as of December 2024, the IRC has deployed a team to Damascus to set up operations and engage in coordination structures for newly accessible areas across Syria—including parts of NES, NWS, and other previously unreachable locations in South and Central Syria, adjusting operations to maximize coverage and efficiency. IRC has over 10 years of experience in Syria implementing cash, agriculture, and livelihoods programming, and was one of the first organizations to use cash transfers, supporting vulnerable communities with MPCT since 2014 in the northwest, and 2015 in the northeast. Job overview: The IRC is seeking a highly motivated veterinary service training facilitator to play a pivotal role in the successful implementation of our agriculture projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a diverse range of tasks, including field assessments, beneficiary selection, input distribution, training facilitation, and project monitoring. This role requires strong organizational, communication, and agriculture expertise to ensure the project's success. The veterinary service training facilitator will be an integral part of the Syria response team. This position supports the delivery of agricultural assistance to those affected by the conflict in the target areas of Der Ez Zor. Responsibilities: + Provide extension services for livestock breeders throughout the value chain, including input provision, shed preparation, production, fodder processing, and the commercialization of crops and livestock using various extension and communication methods. + Develop community-based extension plans and create comprehensive district-level extension service packages for target districts. + Conduct trainings on livestock breeding skills, setting clear, measurable training goals and principles that can be monitored and evaluated. + Deliver veterinary services to beneficiaries, including routine herd health management, consulting, livestock vaccination, disease diagnosis and treatment, pregnancy diagnosis using portable ultrasound, artificial insemination, and livestock health assessments using metal detectors. Provide recommendations on barn hygiene and disease prevention to ensure livestock well-being. Offer training and advice on livestock nutrition and medical treatment for poultry. + Perform a limited range of veterinary tasks, promoting modern husbandry and nutrition methods to improve livestock production. Monitor and diagnose infectious diseases, treat sick animals, and raise awareness about preventing zoonotic diseases such as anthrax, brucellosis, and rabies, which pose significant risks in agro-pastoral communities. + Prepare weekly reports on beneficiaries and training workshops, ensuring accurate tracking and documentation. + Set clear educational goals that can be measured and tracked, and use interactive teaching methods to enhance learning. + Collaborate with the Agriculture Officer to develop training curricula and tools. + Manage activities based on a schedule approved by the supervisor, ensuring timely implementation of tasks. + Facilitate connections between livestock breeder groups and service providers such as Veterinary Field Units or other animal health organizations. + Participate in field assessments and surveys to develop project strategies, identify target groups, and establish beneficiary selection criteria. Qualifications Education: + University or institute degree in veterinary studies. Work Experience: + At least 1 year of experience working with NGOs and local NGOs. Language/Travel: + Language :Arabic is required, whileEnglishandKurdishare desired. + Travel :This position will be 90 % in the field, covering the veterinary service in Al Jazzat community, No travel to other governorate. Key Internal Contacts: : ERD team (livelihood, CFW and VSLA staff). Key External Contacts: C ommunity leaders, agriculture council and HAO.
