Patient Care Assistants are an essential part of the Practice Team. Working alongside the clinical team and the client care team, the ideal candidate will have a good background in animal handling, with previous veterinary care experience preferred. High standards of patient care and premises management need to be maintained at all times, and the PCAs are key to achieving this.

The right candidate will have an Animal Care qualification and want to ensure the highest standard of care is provided for our patients and clients. The role is varied, but includes:

Giving oral medication under supervisionCompleting paperwork to ensure accurate monitoring of all in-patient careFeeding in-patients, noting specific dietary needsExercising in-patientsBathing and grooming in-patients if requiredDeep Cleaning kennels, the hospital and other practice areasOperating the laundry equipmentChecking stock levels and ordering supplies as necessarySupporting the Clinical and Reception teamAnswering calls and assisting ownersGeneral housekeepingOperating lab equipment to run testsSupporting nurse team in Dispensary.

Training will of course be provided. The role is part of a rota with three other PCAs that involves 1 weekend in 3, a week of 7am starts and a week of 9pm finishes. 37.5 hours each week.
