Veterinary Cardiology Technician/Assistant JOB SUMMARY We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Cardiology Technician/Assistant to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will work closely with our veterinarians and medical staff to provide exceptional care to pets with various types of heart disease including various stages of heart failure. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal welfare and a background in veterinary care. RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES + Patient Care: Assist in the care and monitoring of Cardiology patients, including focusing on treating and managing heart failure and complex cardiac conditions. This will include the care of patients in the ICU. + Diagnostic Support: Collect diagnostic samples (blood, urine, biopsy, etc.) for testing and assist with diagnostic imaging procedures (echocardiograms, thoracis radiographs, ECGs, etc.). + Client Education: Communicate with pet owners about treatment plans, medication administration, side effects, and post-treatment care instructions. + Clinical Procedures: Assist with routine and specialized procedures such as catheter placement, blood draws, abdominal, thoracic and pericardial taps, bubble studies, and Holter placement. + Laboratory Work: Prepare and process laboratory samples, run diagnostics, and assist in interpreting results. + Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for patients, including treatment plans, progress notes, and any adverse reactions. + Team Collaboration: Work closely with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff to ensure a high standard of care and patient comfort. QUALIFICATIONS + High school diploma or equivalent (required). + 3 years of experience as a veterinary technician or assistant + Veterinary Technician Certification (LVT, RVT, or CVT) preferred. + Experience in veterinary cardiology or a similar specialty is highly desirable but not required. + Strong knowledge of veterinary medical terminology, animal behavior, and procedures. + Proficiency with medical equipment, including IV pumps, infusion pumps, and diagnostic tools. + Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide compassionate and clear explanations to clients. + Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism. + Strong organizational skills and attention to detail + Ability to lift and carry animals and equipment up to 50 pounds. + Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks in a fast-paced environment. + Comfort working with potentially ill and difficult-to-handle animals.
