To support our team in Leverkusen, we’re currently looking for a Part-Time Veterinarian (m/f/d) who enjoys working hands-on with animals while also serving as a trusted advisor to colleagues and researchers. What you’ll be doing: + Responsible for the health and well-being of our animals (mice), ensuring the highest standards of veterinary care. + Advise management and animal facility teams on welfare matters, including surgical procedures, anesthesia, analgesia, and biosecurity. + Manage the veterinary pharmacy and facilitate internal training for technical staff. + Act as a key contact for regulatory authorities and oversee compliance with all applicable animal welfare legislation. + Take a lead role in accreditation needs with preparing AAALAC program description and site visits, including documentation, facility readiness, and team awareness. + Lead the Animal Welfare Body (AWB) meetings. + Support scientists in preparing animal protocol applications for regulatory approval. + After onboarding and obtaining the necessary qualifications, assume the role of Animal Welfare Officer (AWO). What you bring to the team: + A degree in Veterinary Medicine and valid license to practice in Germany. + Ideally, further qualification in Laboratory Animal Science (e.g., Specialist Vet or EU Function A, B, D) – or willingness to obtain it. + Sound knowledge of German animal welfare regulations and experience in laboratory animal care. + Experience or strong interest in AAALAC accreditation processes and quality assurance is a plus. + Fluency in German and good English skills to collaborate with both local and international colleagues. + A proactive, team-oriented approach with strong communication skills and a commitment to animal welfare.
