Verification Engineer 2 As nuclear engineers, those working in this role will help build and maintain the mission critical instrumentation that helps control the UK's fleet of nuclear reactors. Their main responsibilities shall be to conduct verification and validation activities for Curtiss-Wright's Neutron Flux Detector manufacturing programme, acting as the Design Authority and ensuring adherence to the design and internal processes. There will also be opportunities to work on other projects across the wider nuclear industry at all stages of product development, from concept design to obsolescence and aging management. We do not expect applicants to have any pre-existing knowledge of NFDs and all required knowledge will be taught on the job. **Location** **:** Wimborne, UK **Your Challenge:** + Technical/Editorial/Quality Assurance reviews + Gain knowledge, understanding and experience with NFDs through ‘self study’ and in-house training exercises and courses + Develop knowledge of NFD physical and operational characteristics and their typical failure modes + Validation of work against customer requirements + Providing technical justifications for acceptance/rejection of design modifications + Investigations into design/manufacturing issues + Conducting audits of projects against review and change management processes + Assisting team lead with team management where required + Communicate technical decisions to non-technical audiences. **What You Bring:** + **Ability to obtain SC Clearance.** + **Security contractual compliance will require incumbents must be a British National.** + Science/mathematical/engineering degree or equivalent industry experience. + Knowledge/Experience with at least 1 of the following: + Nuclear physics + Radiation physics + Mechanical engineering + Material science + Metallurgy + Welding/Brazing + Vacuum systems + Gas & Ionisation physics + Signal processing + Analogue electronics + Applied mathematics + Systems Engineering + Good attention to detail and a critical eye. + Taking ownership of tasks, finding solutions, and taking responsibility for delivery. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office. + Ability to work with colleagues and customers discussing technical solutions and providing constructive criticism. + Ability to write and present findings of investigations. + Ability to form clear, concise logical arguments. **Who We Are** Our Values (https://www.curtisswright.com/company/sustainability/core-values/default.aspx) Environmental, Social and Governance Ultra Energy, a Business Unit of Curtiss Wright, is a global engineering and design manufacture leader with just over six decades of experience designing for heavily regulated markets, such as nuclear, aerospace, oil and gas, and more.
