This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, Michigan three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
The VSL is a consulting role responsible for aligning SMT commodity sourcing strategy with program financial, business, timing, and strategic targets during the sourcing phase of the GVDP.
As the purchasing counterpart to the Vehicle System Engineer (VSE), the VSL works collaboratively & cross functionally with the Program Purchasing & Direct Purchasing Teams, VSEs, PPCO (Product Program Cost Optimization , Program Engineering, and other collaborators to driving an aligned sourcing strategy focused on achieving critical program cost, timing, quality, localization & other strategic targets.
What You'll Do
Attend VAPIR and/or CAB (change authorization board) to ascertain upcoming sourcing, cost impacts due to design modifications/concernsEngineering Data for Provisioning (EDFP) support activities with the sustainment team and determination on what US Government buys direct and what GMD will sellAssist Assistant Program Purchasing Manager with tracking of engineering changes and alignmentAssist with Readiness activities during launch, capacity increases and variant introductionsSupport program Strategy reviews, SOR Check-ins, System Management Teams (SMT) Key stakeholder meetings & sourcing reviewsDrive target & status alignment through collaboration with Vehicle System Engineer (VSE), Buyer, and PPCOLead aligning Mid-Point PSR / PSR recommendations resolving disconnects prior to leadership reviewDrive profitability meeting program financial targets through understanding sourcing strategy cost savings opportunityCost Reduction workshopsBundling / Scale OpportunitiesED&D Lump Sum vs AmortizedLTA’s vs Best Cost Up FrontDevelop strong relationships with Purchasing & Engineering SMT, VSE, PPCO, Program Team & other key partnersBe the voice of Direct Purchasing SMT to the Program Team and Voice of Program Team to Purchasing equally considering team prioritiesMaintain program timing assessing risk early and kicking off recovery plans before project is lateShare knowledge & lessons learned across program and with peers to support strategy optimization
