Description
About Fusion Fund
Fusion Fund is a premier early-stage venture capital firm headquartered in Palo Alto with over $500M in assets under management, on track to reach $2B AUM by next year. Since our founding in 2015, we’ve partnered with visionary, technical founders building transformative companies in enterprise AI, digital health, and industrial automation.
We take a hands-on, founder-first approach, offering more than just capital—we provide deep strategic support through our extensive network of corporate executives, domain experts, and operational resources. Our collaborative, high-growth environment is ideal for professionals who want to shape the future of venture capital while working alongside some of the most innovative minds in technology.
The Opportunity
We’re entering an exciting expansion phase, raising our 5th fund in the coming year and scaling our operations to match. We are seeking a Controller who will serve as the sole internal finance lead and report directly to the Founding Partner. This is a hands-on leadership role for a finance professional eager to take ownership of our financial operations, manage critical vendor relationships, and grow into a CFO position within 1–2 years based on performance.
You’ll manage relationships with two fund administrators, auditors, tax advisors, and a fractional CFO, while driving process improvements, ensuring investor confidence, and supporting the firm’s rapid growth. This is not a maintenance role—it’s a build, solve, and lead opportunity in a dynamic, start-up environment.
Key Responsibilities
+ Manage two fund administrators (currently Carta and Gryphon; transitioning from Carta to Standish)
+ Oversee all fund and management company accounting
+ Lead audit and tax processes with external providers
+ Maintain and enhance LP reporting, capital calls, and distributions
+ Monitor cash flow and coordinate capital activity across entities
+ Build and streamline internal financial controls and processes
+ Prepare financial reports and dashboards for internal and LP use
+ Support fund modeling, valuations, and fundraising initiatives
+ Serve as a strategic financial partner to the Founding Partner
Why Join Us
+ Competitive Compensation: 20% annual bonus plus carry plan (after 1 year)
+ Benefits: Health, life, and long-term disability insurance, plus attractive 401(k) plan
+ Flexibility: Hybrid working model with remote options
+ Generous PTO: Unlimited time off
+ Career Growth: Clear path to CFO within 1–2 years
