Join our company and be part of an innovative team that’s First in Food. Location Description Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled and curds. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: The Vat Room Superintendent will have responsibility for meeting objectives related to production KPI’s, safety, quality, personnel matters, and enforcement of company policy. This includes continuous improvement throughout the area and development of individuals within their organization. This position has the responsibility to always comply with Safety work rules as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities related to Food Safety & Quality are followed and complied with uniformly, to reduce product and process variability. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Directly supervises and coordinates hourly lead roles including goal setting, evaluating performance, hiring and terminating. 2. Schedules and supervises manufacturing resources to meet production goals established by operations management in alignment with business goals and objectives. 3. Assures production activities are following company policies and procedures to include environmental, quality control standards and safety compliance. 4. Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety. 5. Schedules staff and assign duties to meet production needs. 6. Develops and administers material and labor usage controls. 7. Manages and understands the various systems in the vat room. 8. Responds to unexpected interruptions in the production process. 9. Maintains inventories of production supplies. 10. Human resource concepts and procedures. 11. Federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations related to food processing. 12. Ability to lead safety and continuous improvement teams and initiatives. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE REQUIRED • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. • 5-7 years’ experience in processing and supervision. PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: LANGUAGE SKILLS: • Proof of OSHA-10 certification or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire. • Experience with continuous manufacturing processes. • Preventative and predictive maintenance program experience. • Experience working collaboratively with all levels of employees. • Experience in developing and implementing a positive employee relations process. • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) • Ability to use or learn SAP transactions. • Ability to be on call and work extended or after hours as needed.
