WHO ARE WE LOOKING FORWe're looking for an EMEA VAT Lead who thrives on providing advice on new business initiatives, analyzing impacts from tax and policy changes and supporting compliance while delivering controls and process improvements.
You have a keen eye for tax controls and governance and are an easy go-to point of contact for any indirect tax query that comes your way. You will guide (Indirect) Tax staff, manage service partners, direct external consultants and engage with Tax Authorities on controversy across the EMEA region.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ONAs the EMEA VAT Lead, you will work on:
Advising on the indirect tax implications of new business initiatives, changes in supply chain, technology deployments and other projects.Supporting and delivering on the tax control framework.Managing VAT matters in relation to controversy towards the authorities.Working with our Managed Service Provider to identify and address VAT compliance deficiencies and deliver further improvements in our reporting processes.Driving indirect tax process improvements and further centralization of Indirect Tax operations.Delivering VAT solutions for business enablement and P&L savings while ensuring compliance with tax laws, by utilizing technology solutions such as OneSource, SAP, Alteryx, and tax research toolsTracking, analyzing and executing impact of changes in tax law and policy.Identifying and realizing indirect tax opportunities, such as VAT refunds and reducing VAT leakage.Delivering indirect tax training.Responding to VAT queries from across the business.WHO WILL YOU WORK WITHYou will be located at our EHQ in Hilversum, Netherlands and will work together with the EMEA VAT Principal and the wider EMEA Tax team on anything VAT related. You will be part of the Global Tax function reporting to the Global Indirect Tax Director based at our WHQ in Beaverton, Oregon. Outside of the Tax function, you can expect to work frequently with our Business, Controlling, Corporate Finance, Legal, Technology, Customs and Transportation teams.
WHAT YOU BRING TO NIKEBachelor’s and Master Degree in (Indirect) Tax Law or Fiscal EconomicsMinimum of 5 years of experience in Industry and/or Tax Consulting positionsDemonstrated understanding of complex tax concepts, with the ability to review legal research and apply interpretations to relevant fact patterns.Proven ability to communicate complex topics and concepts to a diverse audience, including in meetings and by presentations.Consistent track record in developing collaborative relationships across teams and functions.Experience managing VAT compliance and controls, tax controversy and delivering VAT advice as part of broader projects.Ability to absorb and navigate large and sometimes contradictory or ambiguous data and perspectives to deliver effective solutions.Proficiency with SAP ERP, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint and other developing technologies is preferred.Strong enthusiasm and passion for the NIKE brand!NIKE is committed to employing a diverse workforce.
