Prepares and oversees global tax schedules, reconciles tax data, ensures tax return completion, and responds to audits, inquiries, and notices. Researches and develops tax savings strategies, prepares reports, and consults on tax issues. In a newly built organization “EMEA VAT Compliance Center of excellence” (EMEA VAT COE), we are looking for a VAT specialist who is passionate about VAT compliance and willing to develop her/himself in this area. VAT COE EMEA has 10+ team members. All will be in a manner that ensures compliance with the law in all jurisdictions (EMEA Region), while at the same time, minimizing the tax risk of Carrier by improving the quality of Carrier’s VAT compliance. **Benefits** We are committed to offering competitive benefits programs for all of our employees and enhancing our programs when necessary. _Among the many benefits, Carrier offers Exciting innovative environment, possibility for further development and international career opportunities, high-profile team, daily use of English and other foreign languages, language courses, Competitive remuneration and other benefits (meal vouchers, contribution to life or pension insurance, holidays etc.), Flexible working hours, possibility for home office, personal days off._ **Requirements** + Advanced degree in tax law and/or other financial certification + 2+ years of VAT compliance experience within the EMEA region + Understanding of the basic technical principles of VAT across multiple VAT jurisdictions + Ability to identify and prioritize key opportunities and risks with general business sense + Proven working skills with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, JDE, Oracle) + Strong oral and written English language skills required; + Accept 5% traveling time + C1 level of English (i.e. proficient), B2 level German or French (i.e. upper intermediate) + Must uphold and perform function consistently with Carrier’s core values illustrated in its Code of Ethics and The Carrier Way and comply with all other corporate and internal policies + A desire to learn and develop into the role + Strong interpersonal skills, including ability and desire to communicate, collaborate, and coordinate with other members of tax group + Passion for results + Flexibility and willingness to work with others and share / shift responsibilities and resources on an interim basis in response to demands + Self-motivated, able to work under pressure, and independently and carry out assigned responsibilities + Strong written and verbal communication skills + Creative / strong problem-solving skills + Strong organizational skills + Ability to plan and prioritize work **Responsibilities** + Actively support the transition of the VAT compliance processes from Carrier’s Finance organization and external advisors to the EMEA VAT COE + Become the VAT compliance specialist for the countries that you are responsible for + Prepare, review and submit VAT returns and other VAT related filings, e.g. EC Sales Lists, Intrastat, digital filings while following Carrier’s standardized VAT compliance process + Provide support during routine audits and support with answering standard queries from tax authorities + Support with and host VAT trainings for various business functions (e.g. Finance, AP, AR, logistics, etc) + Identify potential issues / risks and provide solutions + Continuously work on VAT compliance process improvements + Follow up on legislative changes and business changes in order to ensure that the systems and/or processes are updated + Participate in VAT trainings / VAT update sessions hosted for the VAT compliance team and external advisors + Communicate, collaborate, and coordinate with other members of the tax group, as well as other WHQ and business functions as appropriate and necessary **Our commitment to you** Our greatest assets are the expertise, creativity and passion of our employees.
