What you'll do:
As a VAT Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Corporate Tax and VAT function within the wider Tax and Financial Control team. Your day-to-day activities will involve preparing detailed VAT returns for multiple jurisdictions, collaborating with external advisers on compliance reviews, managing Intrastat reporting obligations, and addressing complex queries from internal stakeholders such as marketing teams. You will also be instrumental in reconciling key accounts, ensuring ongoing compliance with regulatory guidelines, and driving process improvements that enhance operational efficiency. Success in this role requires not only technical proficiency but also strong interpersonal skills to build relationships across departments. Prepare accurate VAT returns for both UK and Irish VAT registrations, ensuring all submissions meet statutory requirements and internal deadlines. Collaborate closely with external advisers to manage the VAT return review process, maintaining high standards of compliance and timely delivery. Compile Intrastat returns for Irish VAT registration, ensuring data integrity and adherence to relevant regulations. Respond promptly to queries from marketing teams regarding invoice approvals by reviewing the VAT treatment of marketing spend. Support the wider finance team in reconciling the VAT creditor account for both UK and Ireland operations. Assist in maintaining compliance with HMRC’s Guidelines for Compliance (GfC8) related to VAT processes. Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency by streamlining existing processes and actively participate in implementing improvements across the department. Contribute to ad-hoc projects as required by management, demonstrating adaptability and willingness to support broader business objectives.

Advanced Excel skills enabling efficient data analysis, reconciliation tasks, and preparation of financial reports. Experience or understanding of indirect tax principles and accountancy practices relating to VAT is beneficial but not essential; willingness to learn is highly valued.
