Utility Person - Dredge
Description

Martin Marietta is hiring for a Utility Person position to be responsible for the safe operation of a clamshell dredge and support equipment at Irwindale, CA - Sand and Gravel Quarry.

Essential Functions

Responsible for operating a variety of equipment utilized in dredge miningPerform daily Pre/Post shift inspection of vehicle and work areaPerform pre-shift safety inspection on equipment and report needed repairs to the supervisorPerform repairs and routine maintenance on dredge equipmentPerform repairs and routine maintenance on dredge conveyor equipmentObserve visual and auditory signals during vehicle operationUse Skid Steer, loader and shovel for cleaning conveyor lineExperience with water craft, john boats, cables, pipeline & diesel engines.All other duties as assigned

Work Environment

The work environment for this position consists of being outdoors daily with summer and winter temperature changes. The position can range from being on land working out of a truck to being on our lake working off a boat or floating conveyors.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position that regularly requires long hours and weekend work. The position is a Night Shift spot – typically 9pm to 6am. Sunday night thru Friday night.

Education & Experience

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this positionExperience in the maintenance and operation of mobile equipment and/or equipment used processing plants

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Able to complete maintenance as neededKnowledge of hydraulic systems and ability to weld a plusAble to work cooperatively with others toward a shared goal, contribute actively to the team efforts, and possess a positive attitude in working with others as a teamPossess effective coordination and communication skillsPossess strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge and skillsAble to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to perform duties with minimal supervisionAble to work varying shifts as needed, outdoors, in varying weather conditionsAble to adhere to MSHA guidelines and plant safety rules and regulationsAble to ensure a safe work environment by prioritizing safety, then quality, followed by productionSwimming skills a plus

Salary Posting:

We are excited to share the base range for this position is $19.10-$31.00, exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary). The offered base hourly compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The posted range for this role represents the total reasonable pay range and does not solely represent a hiring range. Therefore, hiring at the top or maximum of the range should not be expected as it would not allow for salary growth opportunities in the role, would diminish promotion value, and may not align with internal equity. In addition to our base compensation, we also offer a competitive benefits package for full time employees (more information on benefits listed below).
