Job Description
As a Utility Locator, you will be responsible for correctly, safely, and efficiently locating underground utilities, including telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems. You will thoroughly search for underground utilities in designated areas, accurately mark their locations, complete necessary documentation, and photograph each locate.
ResponsibilitiesLocate underground utilities correctly, safely, and efficiently.Conduct thorough searches for underground utilities in designated areas.Accurately mark utility locations and complete necessary documentation.Photograph each locate to ensure accuracy.Work full-time during daytime hours, with required overtime.Meet 48-hour turnaround time for most locates, working after holidays and some weekends as needed.Essential SkillsProficiency in telecommunication, OSP, construction, and utility locating.Ability to safely work outdoors in various weather conditions.Computer proficiency.Availability to work overtime and weekends when necessary.Ability to pass a drug screen due to the safety-sensitive nature of the position.Possession of a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.Capability to work in confined spaces, walk, and bend.Skill in distinguishing between colors used for wiring identification.Ability to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, maps, and prints.Effective communication with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrevious outdoor experience is a plus.Work Environment
The position involves working outdoors in various weather conditions. The role requires daytime, full-time commitment with occasional overtime and weekend work, including after holidays. Utility Locators must be able to work in confined spaces, walk, and bend, while maintaining the ability to distinguish between colors for wiring identification.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
