Utilities Locator Field Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility of the Utilities Locator is accurately identifying, locating, and marking underground utilities, ensuring safe excavation and construction activities therefore preventing damage to essential infrastructure and guaranteeing compliance with state and federal regulations. The Locator uses specialized equipment and mapping tools to detect utility lines and communicates findings clearly. Secondary responsibilities are as a field technician providing general routine maintenance tasks, equipment preventative maintenance.
SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday, 7am – 3:30pm, ½ hr. for lunch and other hours as needed (occasional support on weekends and/or evenings)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
+ Provide utility locates and field locates as required by FL Sunshine Services.
+ Analyze blueprints, as-builts, construction plans and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) maps to determine utility locations
+ Use electromagnetic, radar, and GPS equipment to detect and mark the location of underground utilities such as:
+ Irrigation lines and control wire
+ Reclaimed lines
+ Streetlight circuits
+ Other infrastructure such as water, sewer, natural gas, electric, and fiberoptic/communications lines.
+ Prepare diagrams and sketches showing utility line locations
+ Mark utility lines using paint and flags according to industry standards.
+ Compile data into professional reports and maintain accurate records
+ Review and respond to field locate tickets as required by FL Sunshine Services.
+ Prepare field locate requests through FL Sunshine Services for BRU projects.
+ Assure company safety guidelines are followed.
+ Assist with maintenance, record keeping and storage of company equipment.
+ Operate machinery such as mowers, line trimmers & edgers and light-duty construction equipment.
+ Install and/or remove fences, signs and other hard-scape elements.
+ Basic knowledge of industrial electrical, plumbing and pipe fitting.
+ Assist with operation and maintenance of BRU pump stations and well pump systems and property.
+ Assist in taking flow meter readings and other data for BRU.
+ Assist with maintenance and blow off BRU main lines.
+ Trash pick-up and hauling.
+ Take pride in the work performed and produce a high-quality product.
+ On call after hours.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
+ Preference for experience with construction management, real estate law, paralegal, or project management.
+ Must be extremely organized.
+ Must have high level computer skills - at a minimum Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe.
+ General knowledge and experience with construction projects and contracting.
+ Requires very strong interpersonal and leadership skills in working with diverse disciplines and regulatory agencies.
+ Excellent customer service skills.
+ Leadership & professionalism.
REQUIREMENTS:
+ Valid US Driver's License.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work primarily performed in the outdoor environment, exposed to hot, cold, damp and dirty conditions.
