Utilities Finance Coordinator
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Utilities Finance Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the financial aspects of our utilities operations, including electricity, gas, water, and waste management. You will work closely with various departments to ensure efficient budget management, cost control, and financial reporting for all utilities-related expenses and projects across our portfolio of properties.
Key Responsibilities:
Utilities Budget Management:
Develop, maintain, and monitor annual utilities budgets for all propertiesPrepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial forecasts for utilities expensesAnalyze budget variances and provide explanations for significant deviationsCost Analysis and Optimization:
Conduct regular analysis of utilities consumption and costs across all propertiesIdentify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for cost savingsCollaborate with facilities and sustainability teams to implement energy-saving initiativesEvaluate and recommend cost-effective utilities contracts and tariffsFinancial Reporting:
Prepare comprehensive utilities financial reports for management and stakeholdersCreate and maintain utilities cost allocation models for different departments or tenantsDevelop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to utilities consumption and costsInvoice Processing and Verification:
Review and validate utilities invoices for accuracy and compliance with contract termsCoordinate with accounts payable to ensure timely payment of utilities billsResolve billing discrepancies with utility providersData Management and Analysis:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date utilities consumption and cost databasesAnalyze historical data to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies in utilities usagePrepare data visualizations and dashboards to communicate utilities performanceRegulatory Compliance:
Stay informed about energy regulations and compliance requirementsEnsure adherence to reporting obligations for energy consumption and emissionsAssist in the preparation of regulatory filings related to utilitiesProject Support:
Provide financial analysis and support for utilities-related projects and initiativesAssist in the evaluation of energy-efficient technologies and their financial impactsContribute to the development of business cases for utilities improvement projectsStakeholder Communication:
Liaise with internal departments, including Facilities, Operations, and SustainabilityCommunicate with external utilities providers and consultants as neededPresent utilities financial performance to management and other stakeholdersQualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field3-5 years of experience in financial analysis, preferably in utilities management or a related industryStrong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial management softwareKnowledge of utilities management principles and energy marketsFamiliarity with energy management systems and utility billing processesExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple prioritiesEffective communication and interpersonal skillsExperience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is a plusKnowledge of sustainability reporting standards (e.g., GRI, SASB) is beneficialThis role offers an exciting opportunity to play a crucial part in optimizing our organization's utilities management and contributing to our sustainability goals.
