About the AI Platform Engineering Team
Our engineering team builds Walmart’s core AI platform, powering seamless, intelligent customer experiences at massive scale. We operate at the intersection of modern Python microservices, advanced cloud AI integrations, and top-tier observability practices. In this role, you’ll collaborate cross-functionally to deliver robust, efficient, and secure platform solutions—directly influencing Walmart’s digital transformation.
What You’ll Do
Lead design, implementation, and optimization of backend services for AI/ML workflowsDevelop and scale LLM integration layers, vector search, and embedding pipelinesOversee robust error handling, retries, caching, and observability (metrics, logging, tracing)Drive code quality through reviews, testing, and CI/CD best practicesPartner on system architecture and technical decisions with engineering and product teamsWhat You’ll Bring
5+ years of advanced Python development (async/await); strong API experience (FastAPI, Django, or similar)Proven experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, and vector databasesExpertise in cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, or AWS) and distributed systemsStrong testing background (pytest/unit/integration); observability tooling proficiencyFamiliarity with front-end development (JavaScript/HTML) and security best practices for AI platformsAt Walmart, we offer competitive pay as well as performance-based bonus awards and other great benefits for a happier mind, body, and wallet. The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
