The Journeyman Upholsterer is a highly skilled artisan responsible for independently executing comprehensive upholstery projects, from intricate repairs to complete re-upholstery. This role demands a high level of craftsmanship, an in-depth understanding of diverse materials, traditional and modern upholstery techniques, and the ability to contribute significantly to maintaining the aesthetic and structural integrity of all upholstered furnishings across the Tribal entities’ indoor and outdoor premises. The Journeyman will collaborate with various departments on an as-needed basis and work closely with Engineering personnel. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Independently perform all phases of upholstery projects, including careful deconstruction of existing upholstery, assessing and repairing furniture frames, executing spring tying and repair (coil and zig-zag), applying webbing, replacing and shaping padding and foam, creating patterns, precision cutting of various fabrics, and expert application of new upholstery materials. Master the upholstery of a diverse range of furniture styles, including traditional, modern, antique, and custom pieces, for both indoor and outdoor environments. Develop skills in identifying different wood types, assessing damage, and selecting appropriate repair methods for veneer, solid wood, and upholstered pieces. Expertly identify various upholstery materials, including fabrics, leather, vinyl, and specialized trims, and independently determine appropriate repair, cleaning, or replacement methods. Help apply a variety of finishes such as lacquer, varnish, stain, and paint, focusing on achieving high-quality, durable, and aesthetically pleasing results. Skillfully work with a wide variety of upholstery materials, including intricate patterns, ensuring proper grain, tension, alignment, and professional finishing techniques such as welting, tufting, and buttoning. Assess furniture frames for structural integrity, performing necessary repairs or reinforcements to ensure the longevity and safety of upholstered pieces. Proficiently operate and maintain a wide array of upholstery tools and specialized equipment, including double stitch industrial sewing machines (e.g., blind stich, straight stitch, walking foot, zig-zag), staple guns (pneumatic and manual), fabric cutters, steaming equipment, and various hand tools specific to upholstery. Possess an exceptional eye for detail and a proven mastery of advanced upholstery craftsmanship, consistently delivering superior results. Provide outstanding customer service to guests and all other employees by exceeding our mission statement. Requires technical knowledge of the construction and maintenance work involved, and the ability to use cost-estimating methods. Must be able to follow safety guidelines and work closely with the Safety Coordinator to make sure all OSHA safety guidelines are adhered to. Ensure compliance with all Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) as well as all Tribal Internal Control Standards (TICS). Present a positive image of the Tribal organization to its guests and vendors and to assist them as required. Must follow all safety policies and procedures and attend all scheduled safety meetings and training as a condition of employment. Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time. Supervisory Responsibilities

This job requires supervisory responsibilities for specific functions, processes, and the scheduling of tasks related to upholstery projects.

QualificationsEducation And Experience (Must Be Documented) High school diploma or GED preferred.   Must be able to communicate in English. Self-motivated, Able to use single/double stitch sewing machine. 2-5 years of hands on experience preferred Excellent attention to detail, patience, and a steady hand, maintain clean appearance at all times. Ability to follow instructions meticulously and absorb new techniques quickly Certification, Licenses And Any Additional Requirements Must pass periodic random drug screens.  Must be able to pass background suitability investigation. Must obtain a Tribal Gaming License. Must obtain all other applicable certifications and licenses. Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States within 72 hours of employment. The employee is occasionally required use repetitive movements to complete tasks. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee may be occasionally required to work in low light conditions, and may be exposed to loud noise for extended periods.

Multiple locations. Some enterprises are open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week; therefore, you must be flexible to work any and all hours. Must be available for emergency calls 24/7. Must be available to work weekend and holidays. Some enterprises are gaming facilities. Some enterprises are not a smoke-free environment. Surveillance cameras and audio equipment monitor the premises recording activity throughout most of the facilities on 24 hours per day, 7 days per week basis. Indian Preference Act
