Job Overview:

Attend nursing station and perform clerical duties, reception duties, and requisition supplies, equipment and services as directed.

High school diploma or equivalent

Knowledge of medical terminology preferred,

Essential Functions:

Participates actively in meetings and projects to improve quality of serviceParticipates in problem solving and supports initiation of changes that enhance patient care/unit function as requestedDemonstrates flexibility of assignmentsContributes to a culture of excellence by demonstrating self-motivation, adaptability, and reliabilityUtilizes the computer, printer, fax machine, and other supplies in a manner that achieves high productivity, cost effectiveness, and waste reductionProcesses patient charges appropriate to the unitAssists with the maintenance and care of equipment and suppliesInitiates maintenance requisitions for the necessary repairs on the unitPromotes a compassionate, supportive, and therapeutic environment for the patients, families, and co-workersArranges follow-up appointments as ordered by the physicianCalls other units for readiness of bed prior to patient transferPosition Specific CompetenciesArranges transportation of patient to other health care facilities in collaboration with the Charge Nurse Nurse ManagerEnsures that all necessary paperwork is completed and transferred with the patientDemonstrates the ability to use the clinical information system with minimal assistanceDemonstrates knowledge of the hospital s accepted abbreviations and medical terminologyAccurately transcribes orders from the physician order form to the Clinical Information SystemFiles computerized printouts of transcribed orders for RN verificationCreates and promotes an environment conducive to teamwork and performance improvement,Attends meetings and departmental programs as requested,Participates in inter and intra departmental activitiesCommunicates all messages received in the absence of requested personnelMakes necessary entries in the computer/written logs per unit specificationsPerforms other duties as requested
