Stationary EngineerJob Description

An exciting opportunity awaits a licensed Stationary Engineer in Kansas City, KS to become part of our facilities team! We are seeking candidates with a stationary engineer's license and experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing systems equipment within an industrial facility. This position will work 3rd shift, Wednesday PM - Monday AM.

Key ResponsibilitiesMonitor, operate, and maintain critical building systems including refrigeration, chilled water, HVAC, boilers, and electrical equipmentPerform scheduled preventive maintenance on base building and critical system equipmentInstall and repair plumbing, piping, and tubing systemsWire single and three-phase motors, run conduit, and pull wiring to machinery and equipmentInstall, rebuild, and repair pumps, motors, air compressors, and heat exchangersInstall, repair, and maintain electrical controls, switches, and motor controlsReplace bearings in various motor types and seals on pumpsRecord equipment readings and report any problems or malfunctionsIdentify, prioritize, and respond to major and critical alarms, documenting all measures takenAnalyze water samples from equipment and utilitiesMonitor emergency generators during power outagesPerform boiler operations including starting, shutting down, adjusting operations, managing building heat exchangers, and handling alarms and abnormal conditionsQualificationsMissouri Operating Engineer CertificateUniversal CFC CertificateJourneyman rating with 5+ years of experience in a heavy industrial environmentDemonstrated technical expertise in electrical maintenance and troubleshootingExperience operating and maintaining Cleaver Brooks natural gas-fired boilers and steam systemsProficiency in information systems including email, automated building systems, and operator control panelsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsCapability to manage stress effectively in a noisy, hot industrial environmentWork Schedule & Requirements3rd shift position (Wednesday PM - Monday AM)Availability for "on-call" duty after hours for emergency situationsAbility to frequently climb stairs for inspections and emergency proceduresHigh percentage of "wrench time" expected in this rolePhysical RequirementsWork in potentially noisy, hot, and demanding industrial environmentsLift and carry tools and equipment required for maintenance tasksStand, walk, climb stairs frequently throughout shiftUse hands to operate tools and equipment with precisionSee details at close range and at a distance to inspect equipmentAbout JLL
