Under limited supervision, responsible, and accountable for a variety of duties in and around the buildings and grounds to assist other workers in completing their tasks. This position is located at St. John Hospital- Detroit, MI Responsibilities Performs a variety of duties including standard servicing and repair operations to maintain hospital buildings, grounds, equipment, furnishings and fixtures in proper condition as directed. Receives assignments and work orders. May be assigned to a specific trade shop to assist the journeyman tradespersons. Reviews work orders for priority status and designated time schedules. Requisitions material and supplies. Prepares tools and work area. Performs work for the particular trade. Maintains all required records and documents relative to preventive and corrective maintenance activities. Completes all work orders in a timely, legible manner in order that complete and meaningful equipment histories are maintained Applies cost-effective measures in order to improve efficiency and supports cost containment efforts while delivering a high quality service. Provides Values-Added customer service consistent with hospital policy. Responds to emergency calls in a timely manner. Keeps work area clean, orderly and safe. Assures proper care in use of tools, equipment and supplies. Demonstrate safe work practices and attitudes, follows safety rules to prevent unsafe conditions and behaviors, and participates in organizational and department safety programs. Improve patient safety in the delivery of health care by understanding and applying the patient safety goal for SJPHS/Ascension of no preventable deaths or injuries. Qualifications Education: High School diploma or equivalent - required. Related training - required. Experience: Three to five years - required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to work with power equipment. Ability to work with hazardous equipment. #MFMBM
