The Facultative Energy & Construction Underwriter will be responsible for supporting the Facultative Desk Energy Product Leader in the day to day underwriting and management of the overall Energy & Construction portfolio written through the Miami FAC Desk including developing business strategy, management of broker and distribution channels, budget and business planning functions and reporting, portfolio analytics, development and training of staff, and compliance of internal policies to achieve a sustainable and profitable regional portfolio, including but not limited to:
Operational Management
Ensures the required standards of governance, systems and controls, and regulatory compliance are established and maintained for the Energy division.Work with Claims, Finance, Operational, Accounting, Legal, and Actuarial support teams to support portfolio management functions.Drive a culture that promotes collaboration, diversity and inclusion.Prepare key performance indicators including but not limited to monitoring of submission flow by distribution channels and analysis of losses/ claims behaviors, among others.Support in the preparation of presentations to both internal and external stakeholders as the business requires. Maintain updated underwriting files based on corporate guidelines.Underwriting
Source and qualify opportunities, underwrite, manage, and service a profitable book of Assumed FAC Energy business in Latin American.Develop, manage and execute on a pipeline of new business opportunities.Manage existing and develop new producer and client relationships throughout the region.Work alongside other FAC Desk products to effectively cross-sell the company's offerings.Collaborate with engineering and technical specialist to identify and understand risk exposures. Negotiate policy terms and coverages so that coverage terms align with the company directives.Utilize underwriter authority in accordance with our corporate risk appetite and strategy.Support Product Leader with development and execution of the LAC Energy underwriting strategy within global ‘guardrails. This includes detailed monitoring and quality reviews to assess loss ratios, underwriting results, and P&L performance. Drive underwriting excellence across the business by establishing and ensuring adherence to risk appetite, line setting, standards and guidelines, and ensure rating and pricing adequacy.Develop strong, long-term relationships with brokers and clients to profitably grow a the portfolio.Provide superior customer service to brokers and clients.What we’re looking for:
University degree: Engineering degree preferred.This position is for seasoned candidates in the area of Energy underwriting / industry experience in Latin America including but not limited to Power Generation, Oil & Petrochemical, Mining in Operation, and Construction (CAR/EAR).Strong understanding of risk selection process, exposure analysis including BI calculations, CAT perils, and analytical interpretation of engineering survey reports. Strong understanding of actuarial methods in support of pricing risk, claims and reserving practices.Advanced working knowledge of local & global policy forms, manuscript wordings, industry specific clauses and coverages.Knowledge of development in industry technology standards, emerging issues & trends, and general market conditions.Established LAC FAC broker network with strong professional relationships with reinsurance intermediaries in the region.Knowledge of LAC FAC market placement dynamics and distribution channels.Demonstrated business savvy, analytical and quantitative skills with strong problem-solving abilities.Strong business acumen, with a proven track record of making sound judgment backed by strong analytical and quantitative skills.Strategic and result oriented, managing vision and purpose.Strong influencing and communications skills, and ability to work collaboratively and manage stakeholders effectively in a matrix structure and across a wide geography.Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Fluency in English and Spanish.At AIG, we value in-person collaboration as a vital part of our culture, which is why we ask our team members to be primarily in the office.
