Underwriter, Westchester - Foreign Package

Westchester, a Chubb company, is currently seeking a highly motivated and outgoing business professional to join the organization in an underwriting position.  This individual will be responsible for primarily renewal business production within the Westchester Binding business unit, specifically focused on the International Advantage product line.  This comprehensive foreign package policy includes many lines of coverage intended to protect businesses, employees, independent contractors, volunteers, and students while traveling or working outside of the United States.  This exciting and fast-paced opportunity will allow the individual to improve their underwriting skills, expand their industry knowledge and further develop their marketing abilities while working on a diverse risk portfolio with key wholesale agents and brokers.         

KEY OBJECTIVES: 

Key objectives include understanding and managing risks, retaining and upselling renewal business, meeting or exceeding business unit service standards, building or improving trading partner relationships, demonstrating sound underwriting discipline and collaborating with business unit management.     

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to: 

Ownership and management of assigned underwriting book and territory(ies)Solicit new business opportunities and retain existing accounts from assigned brokers Execute on individual and business unit key performance goalsCreate, maintain and improve broker relationships through excellent customer serviceUtilize “Underwriter Best Practices” as a guide to prioritize business unit objectives and execute on underwriting fundamentalsPromote visibility of International Advantage through marketing efforts, industry events and networking opportunitiesInitiate and / or contribute to product development and enhancements

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Travel Percentage: 5% - 10%

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Risk Management, or a related field. Relevant coursework or certifications in insurance or underwriting are a plusFamiliarity with basic insurance principles and practices

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Previous internship or work experience in the insurance industry is preferred.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
