AIG Underwriting teams help to find insurance solutions in areas including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Cyber, and Multinational Clients. We are reimagining how we help customers to manage risk, transforming our operating model and reshaping our role responsibilities and career pathways. How you will create an impact
As an influencer at AIG, people come to you as a “go-to” source for help and support because of your deep knowledge and expertise. As a more experienced team member, you are capable of driving continual improvement and impacting the way that things get done. Because of your influence, whether direct or indirect, we are able to deliver powerful outcomes for our clients.
Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:
+ Underwriting across Financial Lines and Casualty products, both for renewal and new business within authorities granted and in accordance with profit centre guidelines.
+ Establish/Maintain strong customer/industry relationships including:
+ Broker relationships with indigenous and international broking firms.
+ Assisting with the roll out of new products and initiatives.
+ Service clients and brokers across New Zealand.
+ Undertake presentation to clients and/or brokers where required, including product specific training and pitching for business.
+ Attain appropriate levels of expertise in all product lines including changes and developments.
+ Seek opportunities to improve synergies and participate in cross-sell initiatives within the Profit Centre and with other Profit Centers
+ Keep up to date of market changes and trends
What you’ll need to succeed
+ Possess recognized insurance qualification and/or relevant tertiary degree from a recognized institution.
+ Some experience in Financial Lines and Casualty underwriting.
+ Has a well-rounded business background with experience in multiple functions (e.g., underwriting, marketing, operations, finance)
+ Risk assessment including new business reinsurance negotiations and developing renewal retention strategies.
+ Understands complex concepts; is analytical
+ Possess broad perspective on organization businesses and practices
+ Possess strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
+ Understands how decisions impact the various parts of organization
+ Understands what drives the bottom line; has strong financial/quantitative capabilities.
+ Uses technology as a strategic lever; understands technological trends that impact the way organization does business.
+ Uses understanding of product development, targeted marketing and channels of distribution to add to top line growth
+ Keeps up to date on external issues affecting his/her function and the organization (e.g. political and legislative trends, where the business is headed, the industry and the competition
