In this position... 
Ford Underbody Systems Engineering is seeking a highly motivated CAE engineer to join our team. This engineer will work with all sections of Chassis (suspension, steering, and brakes) and interface with program management teams, suppliers, testing activities, manufacturing, and vehicle teams to automate current methods and employ optimization software to deliver optimized results by using design of experiments (DOEs), optimization algorithms, response surface models (RSMs) and neural networks. This engineer will be responsible in ensuring that the engineering requirements are being met and that results are being delivered on time. When deficiencies are detected, this engineer will use their knowledge and toolbox to recommend possible solutions to the design and release engineers. This position will require working with global Ford team members, depending on the current assignments. This engineer will research, identify and develop the leading software tools and methods available to improve Ford designs and bring them to Ford.

You'll have... 
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related degree.
5+ years of experience with NVH CAE analysis.
2+ years of experience with chassis components and operation of front/rear suspensions and braking systems.

Even better, you may have...
Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related degree.
Proficient use of Nastran, HyperMesh, HyperView, HyperWorks, Abaqus for NVH CAE analysis. 
Experience with optimization software, such as Optistruct, HyperStudy, ModeFRONTIER, and/or HEEDS.
Proficient use of CAD software (Catia preferred).
Experience using Catia CATScript, PYTHON scripts, and VBS or Excel macros.
Have run brake squeal complex eigenvalue analyses.
Strong analytical and project management skills.
Innate desire and ability to learn and apply advanced software tools.
Ability to work in a multi-cultural team.

What you'll do...

Work with all sections of Chassis (suspensions, brakes, steering, tires, and wheels) and interface with program management teams, suppliers, testing activities, manufacturing, and vehicle teams.  Evaluate the sub-system level Strength, Durability (Static and Dynamic), kinematic and compliance performance of the chassis and steering components. Build and analyze brake system to resolve squeal issues on current and future programs using Abaqus. Brake squeal analysis and recommend design changes to rotor, pad (lining chamfers/slots), anchor bracket, caliper housing to eliminate squeal noise. Perform Hyperstudy analysis to predict and correlate friction anisotropic properties with FRF test data. Correlate brake component normal mode frequencies with FRF tests. Perform modal separation analysis for rotor in-place and out-of-place modes. Force transmissibility analysis based on brake load.
