Position Information Position Information Position Availability: Position Title: ULC Student Assistant Requisition Number: 0406073634 Location New York City Position Type: Student Department: CA/University Learning Center Responsibilities: The University Learning Center (ULC) provides one-on-one tutoring to all New School students. Our Student Assistant is part of a fast-paced front desk team, especially during midterms and finals, that provides customer service and support to students, tutors, and a small staff.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting students, faculty and staff with requests (in-person, via email, online chat), including: Check-in and scheduling assistance ULC policy clarification Troubleshoot minor tech issues, such as connectivity/audio issues, etc. Notify tutors of timely student issues–lateness, tech problems, etc. and vice-versa Direct students to the appropriate New School office(s) Update spreadsheets to track confidential information, including: Student attendance Scheduled appointments Cancellations/Missed appointments Open sessions Monitor and update Google calendar and online scheduler (WCONLINE) Monitor the ULC inbox and respond to student, faculty and staff inquiries Compose emails and announcements to students, staff, and faculty Maintain office space – stock and clean front desk/tutoring areas, tend to plants, etc. Assist in designing, updating, and/or distributing flyers Other tasks as assigned Tutoring at the ULC is hybrid, with both in-person and online shifts.
Work Mode: HybridSalary: $16.50/hr Minimum Qualifications: strong communication attention to detail and problem-solving skills comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment friendly demeanor and a positive attitude experience working with Google Drive and Microsoft Office Suite Federal Work Study required Preferred Qualifications: prior office experience preferred experience working with ESL students a plus experience working with Adobe Suite (especially InDesign) a plus Job Family: University Writing Center Posting Date: 06/06/2025 Closing Date: Open Until Filled Yes Supplemental Questions
