UK Import and Compliance Co-ordinator
The UK Import Compliance & Logistics Co-Ordinator is responsible to ensure that the Howmet Engineered Structures Business Unit (“HSS”) is in full compliance with the import and export laws of the United Kingdom and all countries where they do business in a manner that is consistent with Howmet’s values. Compliance with trade regulations will be achieved through a centralized and standardized process of classification, certification and verification of import/export activities. The UK Import Compliance & Logistics Co-Ordinator position reports to the Supply Chain Manager with a dotted line to the Global Director of Trade Compliance, HSS. The Co-Ordinator under the direction of the Global Trade Compliance Director will proactively work with BU Trade Compliance Personnel, Corporate Compliance Personnel, and International Transportation to minimize risk and ensure efficient and effective processes for import activities. HSS has locations in North America (USA and Canada) and the UK. Roles and Responsibilities: + Under the direction of the Global Director of Trade Compliance assist with the overall responsibility for the customs compliance of approximately $125 million annual transactions. + Work with the Global Director of Trade Compliance function as an expert resource to the HSS Tamworth Operation in the areas of import transactions, policies and procedures with a strategic focus to streamline efficiencies, eliminate waste, and utilize emerging tools and technologies with a focus on customer satisfaction and cost containment while ensuring compliance with regulations. + Work with the Global Director of Trade Compliance to develop and maintain a country specific import matrix to include classifications, license requirements and shipment restrictions, including leading an HSS UK reclassification project. Coordinate with the HSS Global Trade Compliance for division wide visibility. + Along with the Global Director of Trade Compliance represent HSS Tamworth Operations in dealing with customers, suppliers, plants, BU and RU personnel as well as government agencies in response to general inquiries on import shipments i.e HMRC + Work with Customs Brokers to expedite clearance of HSS Tamworth products; provide documented feedback to brokers on operational/compliance-related matters; and conduct post-entry/post-shipment audit of imports. + Monitor and track all import notifications received, identifying and communicating to the Tamworth team any issues, including unexpecting delays to arrival time + Review inbound documentation against open purchase orders for accuracy + Complete internal/advise of import documentation to ensure full traceability and compliance + Monitor and release material through Descartes (HMRC) system for material movements from bonded status to IPR and update batches on GTS system + Archiving all customs documents + Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES: + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. + Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. + Proficient with SAP/GTS, Microsoft Office Suite or related software Basic qualifications: + Minimum three (3) – five (5) years of experience in import compliance or similar government role. + Familiarity with a manufacturing environment. + Strong knowledge and working understanding of international trade rules and regulations, including customs compliance, process control and internal audits. (Classification, Customs entry process, customs invoicing requirements, valuation, Incoterms). + Experience with European Customs Authorities, international logistics and Customs broker management. + Able to research complex issues with a variety of resources. + Articulate, analytical, and a team player with demonstrated ability to set priorities and work independently. + Demonstrates outstanding integrity and accountability. + Solid computer skills: MS Office Suite and experience with a GTM system a plus. + Knowledge of working with Bonded warehouse, IPR and HMRC processes. Preferred Qualifications + Aerospace and/or defense industry experience (or other highly regulated industry) + English required. French, Spanish and/or Italian an advantage. Howmet Aerospace Inc.
