uDeploy Administrative Engineer
Position Description:

This role can be filled from Pittsburgh.

We are seeking a uDeploy Engineer with expertise in IBM UrbanCode Deploy (uDeploy) to automate and manage application deployments across various environments. The ideal candidate will have experience in CI/CD pipelines, scripting (Shell/Python), and infrastructure automation (Ansible/Terraform). Strong troubleshooting skills, cloud knowledge (Azure), and collaboration abilities are essential for success in this role.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Application Deployment & Release Management
• Plan, execute, and manage application deployments across multiple environments including Development, QA, UAT, and Production.
• Coordinate with development and QA teams to ensure smooth and error-free releases.
• Maintain deployment schedules and ensure minimal downtime during releases.
2. IBM UrbanCode Deploy (uDeploy) Management
• Configure and maintain IBM UrbanCode Deploy environments for automated application deployments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve deployment issues within uDeploy.
• Create and manage reusable deployment processes and templates.
3. CI/CD Pipeline Development and Maintenance
• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins and GitLab CI.
• Automate build, test, and deployment workflows to improve software delivery efficiency.
• Integrate quality gates and automated tests into the CI/CD process.
4. Scripting and Automation
• Develop and maintain scripts using Shell, Python, or similar languages to automate deployment and infrastructure processes.
• Write utilities and tools to support custom automation and improve operational efficiency.
5. Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration Management
• Use tools like Ansible, Terraform, or similar to automate provisioning, configuration, and management of infrastructure.
• Maintain version-controlled IaC templates and adhere to change management best practices.
6. Source Control and Artifact Management
• Manage code repositories using Git or Bitbucket; enforce branching strategies and merge policies.
• Maintain version control for deployment artifacts and ensure traceability across environments.
7. Monitoring and Logging
• Set up and manage deployment monitoring and alerting systems using tools like Splunk, ELK Stack, or Prometheus.
• Analyze logs and metrics to identify and resolve deployment-related issues proactively.
8. Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution
• Investigate deployment failures and environment issues; collaborate with stakeholders to implement permanent fixes.
• Perform root cause analysis and document lessons learned for future reference.
9. Collaboration and Stakeholder Communication
• Work closely with developers, QA engineers, and system administrators to ensure alignment and efficiency in the software delivery lifecycle.
• Communicate deployment status, risks, and mitigation plans clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
10. Continuous Improvement and Best Practices
• Continuously evaluate and implement improvements to deployment strategies, tools, and processes.
• Document procedures, standards, and best practices to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing across the team.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in production support, preferably with experience in enterprise-scale projects.
• Familiarity with databases and SQL queries and shell scripting for data manipulation and reporting.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and design process flows accordingly.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and present technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Experience with IBM UrbanCode Deploy (uDeploy) – Strong hands-on experience in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting IBM uDeploy for application deployments.
• Scripting Knowledge – Proficiency in scripting languages like Shell, Python etc automating deployment processes.
• CI/CD Pipeline Management – Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) – Familiarity with configuration management and automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, etc for infrastructure automation.
• Version Control Systems – Knowledge of Git, Bitbucket for source code and deployment artifact management.
• Application Deployment & Release Management – Experience in deploying applications across various environments (Dev, QA, UAT, Production) and ensuring smooth release cycles.
• Monitoring & Logging – Familiarity with monitoring/logging tools such as Splunk, ELK Stack, or Prometheus for deployment tracking and troubleshooting.
• Strong Problem-Solving Skills – Ability to diagnose and resolve deployment issues quickly and efficiently.
• Collaboration & Communication – Strong teamwork and communication skills to work effectively with developers, QA teams, and infrastructure engineers.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $69,700.00 - $154,300.00.
