Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Mechanical Tool Control Technician – Level 2 to join its organization. This position is located in Linthicum, MD.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Performs a variety of skilled tasks including but not limited to trouble shooting, repairing and preventive maintenance on environmental test equipment which utilize liquid refrigerants in order to provide aircraft, engineering, and manufacturing support, and implement any changes approved by engineering, management or MTC Lead Specialist.

WORKING PROCEDURE AND/OR RESPONSIBILITY ASSIGNED:

1.  Responsible for all application of a variety of cooling carts including but not restricted to performing routine sample tests of liquid refrigerants/coolants, etc.

2.  Trouble shoot, operate, maintain and repair all refrigeration based systems on environmental test equipment, i.e. thermal chambers, cooling carts, processes, devices, and associated equipment.

3.  Contact management or lead specialist, engineering, suppliers, or equipment manufacturers to obtain work orders, drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, manufacturers specifications, catalogs, and oral or written instructions to perform the tasks required for assigned task.  Verify information and report any discrepancy to management or lead specialist.

4.  Analyze and repair malfunctions on all refrigeration systems used as environmental test equipment.

5. Modify and repair associated environmental test equipment components of piping/tubing by bending, cutting, threading, soldering, brazing or gluing.

6.  Complete data entries, graphs, charts, or reports as required.

7.  Maintain records and logs as required.

8.  Operate computer systems, including business application systems and PC-based software applications.

9.  Maintain all equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.

10. Modify existing air conditioning and refrigeration equipment including Environmental Test Chambers to utilize the new Environmental Protection Agency approved refrigerants.

11.  Check and adjust all systems for proper operation after repairs or modifications.

12.  Repair and maintain all pneumatic and minor electronic components related to this job description.

13. Must possess applicable licenses as required by management.

14. Work along with contractors or vendors to accomplish the goals set forth by management.

15.  Must possess applicable licenses as required by management.

16.  Follow all Northrop Grumman safety rules and regulations including but not limited to lock out tag out procedure, confined space entry, wearing steel toe shoes, driving company vehicles, and other safe practices and personal protective equipment to insure a safe working environment for all employees.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

High School graduate or recognized equivalent. 

Two years Vocational or trade school or equivalent military school that focus on a specific trade, craft or career path related to the installation, troubleshooting, modification, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on air conditioning, refrigeration, and other environmental test equipment.

Must be certified to all state and federal requirements for air conditioning and refrigeration.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

Minimum of five years experience with all aspects of H.V.A.C.R. 

Must possess and maintain a universal C.F.C. recovery license, and a Maryland Journeyman’s H.V.A.C. license. 

Must pass a formal, structured interview.
