The successful candidate will be a passionate television enthusiast with a keen eye for a story and the ability to craft compelling content for our dedicated readership. Reporting directly to the TV Editor, this role is central to our extensive television coverage. You will be responsible for producing engaging and insightful content for our daily TV column, breaking exclusive stories and features as well as providing expert analysis on the latest television trends and news. **Day to day you will:** + Fill the daily TV column:Curate and contribute to a must-read daily TV column, including reviews, previews, and insightful commentary on current shows, industry trends, and viewing figures. + Rewrite and enhance press releases:Transform television network and production company press releases into engaging, newsworthy articles for our print and online platforms. This includes identifying the key story, conducting further research, and adding original interviews and context. + Self-source exclusive TV stories:Proactively uncover and develop original news stories, features, and interviews related to the television industry. This will involve building and maintaining a strong network of contacts, including publicists, agents, and on-screen talent. + Conduct interviews:Secure and conduct interviews with actors, directors, writers, and other key figures in the television industry to provide exclusive insights for our readers. + Stay ahead of the curve:Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the television landscape, including new and upcoming series, casting news, and streaming service strategies, to identify and pitch compelling story ideas. + Collaborate with the TV Editor:Work closely with the TV Editor to shape the direction of our television coverage, contribute to editorial planning, and ensure all content is of the highest standard and aligns with our publication's voice. Also step up to help ensure when other team members are off + Write TV reviews:Help contribute to the readers’ understanding of what’s on TV now, what’s good, bad, interesting or just hilarious. **What we are looking for from you:** + A proven track record in journalism, ideally within entertainment or television reporting. + Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clean, engaging copy to tight deadlines. + A demonstrable passion for television and a comprehensive knowledge of the current broadcast and streaming landscape. + The ability to identify a strong news angle and a natural curiosity for digging deeper than the press release. + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to build and nurture industry contacts. + A proactive and self-starting attitude, with the ability to generate original story ideas. + The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team. + A degree in journalism, communications, or a related field is preferred but not essential. **We are News UK:** One of the leading media businesses in the UK and Ireland, our newsbrands include The Times, The Sunday Times, The Sun, The Sun on Sunday and The TLS.
