Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Projects Engineer III to join our Turquoise Ridge team. The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team, providing leadership in project planning, engineering design, cost estimation, and implementation management across assigned capital projects.

Responsibilities:
Deliver solutions that ensure the safe, efficient, and economically viable development of underground and surface mining infrastructure in alignment with operational goals, budgets, and timelines. Work assignments require a high degree of technical judgment, creativity, initiative, and tact, particularly in navigating project constraints and stakeholder requirements. The role also includes the supervision, mentorship, and performance management of junior and mid-level project engineers to support technical excellence and career development. Effectively assist with s project designs, costing, and the implementation management activities Lead, mentor, and develop subordinate project engineers by setting clear objectives, providing structured feedback, and championing innovative thinking and process optimisation. Direct every phase of assigned underground and surface mining projects, coordinating contractors, construction crews, discipline engineers, and project support staff to deliver safe, on-budget, on-schedule results. Confirm that engineering specifications and criteria comply with MSHA, EPA, NFPA, and internal corporate standards, and drive corrective action where gaps exist. Proactively identify emerging issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement timely technical solutions to maintain project momentum. Prepare capital allocation requests (AFE), assemble comprehensive supporting documentation, and actively champion funding approval through the stage-gate process. Develop and maintain economic models to support high-level strategy, scenario analysis, and project optimisation. Track committed, expended, and forecast costs versus budget, explain variances, and recommend cost-control measures as needed. Create and maintain fully resourced CPM schedules; perform critical-path and “what-if” analysis to protect key milestones. Interface with Operations to obtain user requirements and ensure engineered designs meet production objectives. Liaise with Environmental teams to confirm all permits and approvals are secured early and avoid construction or commissioning delays. Understand how adjacent engineering disciplines intersect, and manage cross-functional impacts throughout the project life-cycle. Generate detailed proposals and Class I–V cost estimates, covering equipment, materials, labour, and specialist services. Provide in-house engineering design support where outsourcing is not economical or schedule-appropriate. Oversee QA/QC activities, ensuring work meets design intent, budget, and schedule, and produce concise status reports for distribution. Perform quantitative risk and opportunity analyses, maintain risk registers, and develop mitigation / exploitation strategies for each project phase. Define project parameters, monitor progress against constraints, and escalate issues with recommended countermeasures. Communicate clearly across all levels, adapting technical detail to suit diverse audiences—including senior leadership. Develop procurement specifications, EPC bid packages, and technical evaluations; support tender clarification and award negotiations. Collaborate closely with Supply Chain to secure services and materials at the best total-cost-of-ownership. Create, update, and embed SOPs and asset-management tactics, and deliver operator training during commissioning and start-up. Establish KPI frameworks and dashboards to track daily, weekly, and monthly project performance and feed into analytics. Engage all impacted departments early, capture their requirements, and represent their interests during field execution. Compile post-project reports, capture lessons learned, and feed improvements into future capital projects. Ensure project-control procedures and governance standards are fully implemented and audited for compliance. Champion HS&E culture, conduct Field-Level Risk Assessments (FLRAs), and ensure all activities meet or exceed safety regulations. Stay current with emerging technologies, regulations, and best practices through continuous learning and professional accreditation. Preform other duties as requiredQualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mining, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field from an accredited institution required Five (5) or more years of progressive experience in project planning, execution, and management, preferably in mining, heavy industrial, or construction environments. required Comprehensive understanding of project lifecycle phases, including prioritization, design, execution, construction, commissioning, handover, and post-project evaluation required Working knowledge of contract development and contractor performance management, including scope alignment, compliance, and performance tracking required Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project; familiar with scheduling platforms, design/visualization software, and other industry-relevant tools used in mining projects required Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to interface effectively with multidisciplinary professionals and cross-functional teams required Demonstrated proficiency in organizational, leadership, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and timelines in a structured manner required Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical and project-related information to both technical and non-technical audiences required Knowledge of applicable engineering codes, standards, regulations, and best practices, including peripheral disciplines impacting mining and infrastructure projects preferredWhat We Can Offer You
