Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking highly motivated tunnel engineering applicants to join our successful Energy and Resources business operations in the US West.  The position would preferably be in one of our primary offices in Phoenix, Arizona, Denver, Colorado or in one of our other western US office locations. 

The successful candidate for this entry to mid-level technical position will be responsible for working with technical teams, collecting and analyzing geologic/geotechnical information, performing field investigations, engineering analyses and design, report preparation, plans and specifications preparation, construction site visits.  The individual will interact internally throughout the organization with staff at all levels as well as externally ultimately with clients, members of business and professional organizations, subcontractors, and other firms.

Your Key Responsibilities
Work with technical teams, perform and deliver technical work, make technical presentations, plan technical portions of projects, develop technical portions of proposals, and provide technical review of work products.
Plan and manage tasks and projects to complete them on time and within budget.
Promote collaboration and teamwork across business lines and geographies.
Performs preliminary and detailed analysis and design for tunnels, shafts, caverns and facilities for other hydroelectric related projects.
Engages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
Utilizes technologies in development of three-dimensional models.
Performs analyses using numerical modeling, empirical and limit equilibrium methods.
Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects of peers.
Assists with the development of proposal for smaller, less complex projects.
Travel may be 10% to 25% of the time.

Your Capabilities and Credentials Advanced training in use of numerical modeling techniques, geologic modeling tools, rock mechanics, and associated software to complete engineering analyses as well as techniques using empirical methods and hand calculations. Valid driver’s license with REAL ID and good driving record required 

Education and Experience
0-5 years’ experience in tunnel engineering 
Master’s degree in Civil, Tunneling, Mining, Geotechnical, Geological Engineering or similar related field from a University with advanced degrees emphasize tunnel engineering required 
EIT preferred

Typical office environment working with computers and other technical specialists remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Additional Information Salary Range(s): Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s): Location Description: Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO, HI, MD and IL Min Pay Range: $72,400 Max Pay Range: $101,300 Location Description: Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in WA and DC Min Pay Range: $77,600 Max Pay Range: $108,700 Location Description: Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC) Min Pay Range: SF Area $82,900/CA Other Areas $72,400 Max Pay Range: SF Area $116,000/CA Other Areas $101,300 Note: The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
