A well-established law firm is seeking a skilled and experienced Trusts & Estates Paralegal to join its team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estate planning and administration, a high level of professionalism, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service. Key Responsibilities:
Assist attorneys and senior paralegals with estate planning and administration matters
Prepare and assist with Gift Tax Returns, Estate Tax Returns, and Fiduciary Income Tax Returns
Manage trust financial records, including trust accounting, reconciliations, and audits
Handle preparation of payables, bank deposits, and reconcile financial statements and tax documents (e.g., 1099s, K-1s)
Administer revocable and irrevocable trusts (both during life and after death)
Draft probate pleadings and support probate administration
Maintain communication with clients, financial institutions, and advisors
Meet annual billable hour requirements (1,500 hours)
Organize and maintain electronic and physical files
Perform legal and internet research as needed
Ensure work product accuracy and adhere to deadlines
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all client and team interactions
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience in Trusts & Estates preferred
Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certificate from ABA-approved program preferred (or equivalent relevant experience)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
Experience with tax and accounting software (e.g., GEMS, BNA, ProSystems, EVP) strongly preferred
Experience in corporate or real estate law is a plus
Familiarity with legal document databases and electronic case management systems
