Position Overview
Maintains diesel Trucks and equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle deficiencies and making adjustments.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

Troubleshoots problems, making economical and durable repairs. Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists and hand tools. Maintains and repairs heavy equipment, trucks, shop, and non-mobile equipment on a company-wide basis. Services vehicles/equipment to include oil changes, greasing, adding fluids, changing filters and maintaining preventative maintenance schedules. Troubleshoots and repairs electrical and hydraulic systems, diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, drive trains, etc. Orders parts and supplies through parts department. Operates computer for job functions. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments. Repairs or replaces defective parts. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices. Starts and run or drive devices to test their performance. Welds broken parts and structural members. Maintains a clean and organized work area. Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Experience working on ready-mix trucks highly desirable. Experience in the building materials/construction industry preferred.

 

Work Requirements

Must be proficient in use of a computer and ability to learn usage of a program to track the work orders. Preferred adept at use of Microsoft Word and Outlook. Must be 18 years in age or older. Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

Must have a current and valid driver’s license. CDL is a plus. Own tools are required. Knowledge of Highway Trucks, Cement Mixers, Construction equipment preferred.

 

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
 

The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands to signal and handle equipment. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move anywhere up to 50 lbs. The employee must frequently lift and/or move 5-15lbs.   Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; and extreme cold and/or heat.
