Job Description
Join a dynamic multi-disciplinary care team providing urgent and primary care health services in a community health setting. The Triage Specialist plays a crucial role in administrative support to the Triage team, serving as a key link between patients, providers, and pharmacies, and aiding the Triage Team in achieving key objectives. This position does not involve the actual treatment, diagnosis, or assessment of patients.
ResponsibilitiesServe as a liaison between the clinic Triage department and the call center team.Retrieve, prioritize, and update all incoming messages for Triage, alerting RNs to urgent messages.Process all medication refill requests and analyze related problems.Initiate prior authorizations, medication bubble packs, and durable medical equipment orders.Assist walk-in patients with medication refill issues.Schedule urgent and follow-up appointments in the NextGen electronic health record system.Collaborate with DAP pharmacy techs to assist uninsured patients.Continually reassess the priority of triage tasks.Analyze the triage system to identify problems and suggest improvements for streamlining workflow.Coordinate daily with triage RNs to identify needs and provide clerical and administrative support.Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.Essential SkillsMedical terminology knowledgeHealthcare experienceExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skillsProfessional conduct reflecting positively on the organizationStrong organizational, administrative, multi-tasking, prioritization, and problem-solving skillsAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience with EPICAssociates or College degree in Public Health preferred, High School Diploma acceptableExperience within a community health settingWork Environment
The Triage Specialist will work in an office setting located in Downtown Oakland, alongside the Triage nurse, providing support in a collaborative environment. The team consists of medical assistants, providers, triage nurse, and clinic supervisor, all focused on delivering care with compassion and community support.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
