Overview:

This position supports, and reports, to the Senior Risk Analyst responsible for oversight of interest rate, market or liquidity risk, Incumbent will interact with other staff as well as Treasury and play a supporting role in effective challenge of Treasury

Primary Responsibilities:Support Senior Risk Analyst to conduct BAU monitoring of risk pillars (interest rate risk/liquidity risk/market risk).  Participate in annual process assessments (PA) and periodic challenge reviews (CR) and assist Senior Risk Analyst in establishing findings as a result of PAs and CRs when regulatory or best-practice gaps exist, as uncovered through the PA and CR frameworks.  Drive process improvement initiatives and work with others within and external to risk to implement changes to methodology and enhance/streamline processes to improve efficiency and sustainability.Develop knowledge on standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the risk analytics field.Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.Maintain M&T internal control standards and support implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

This position will interact with various lines of business and support areas, including Credit Risk, Finance, Treasury and Audit to manage model risk throughout the bank. The Risk Analyst must be a self-starter with a willingness to take on any task within Risk Management to further the Department's oversight role.  This position has visibility from senior and executive members of the Risk Division. Incumbent must be willing to work independently as well as within a team environment and, at times, under tight deadlines with limited information.

Bachelors degree and a minimum of 2 years related business line experience,

OR in lieu of a degree,

A combined minimum of 6 years higher education and/or work experience

Education and Experience Preferred:

BA with outstanding academic credentials. One to two years work experience, preferably in Banking or other financial services companies. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Superior interpersonal and leadership talent and ambition. Advanced analytical abilities.
