Trauma Registrar
*Description* *Trauma Registrar Opportunity!* *Must have ICD-10 coding knowledge and working knowledge of the State of CT Trauma system and previous experience with data/research to be considered.* Summary: Operational responsibility for the Norwalk Hospital Trauma Registry, including data collection on all trauma patients and downloading data to the State of CT central repository. Includes abstracting patient records, coding and generating reports. Responsibilities: Collects and screens pertinent patient data for Trauma Registry. Extracts data from the patient medical records to enter into the Registry. Enters trauma data into registry and downloads appropriate data to State within mandated time frames. Ensures accuracy of transmitted data. Maintains file backups Ensures confidentiality of patient data. Prepares routine and statistical reports upon request. Prepares narrative reports as directed Responds/processes all trauma queries. Identifies variances from ACS criteria. Prepares and distributes correspondence, memos and Trauma Rounds information Processes incoming communications (mail, fax, phone). Maintains data collection/QA/peer review standards in absence of trauma coordinator Represents hospital at State Trauma Registrar functions when necessary. Demonstrates proficiency and knowledge in Word, Excel, Cerner, Docutreev, Cerner and PowerPoint Establishes and maintains databases Demonstrates proficiency in use of correct grammar, punctuation and medical terminology. Participates in continuing education/professional activities. Maintains open communication with all Department of Surgery customers. Liaison with DI Collector vendor. *Required:* *Education: *ASSOCIATE'S LVL DGREKnowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of ICD-10 coding and/or previous registry experience. Strong computer skills including data entry, word processing, creating queries. Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
