3-5 years of ICU experience or pre-hospital nursing experience

Job Summary: With minimal supervision, is able to concurrently review patient's medical records and the trauma registry database, works collaboratively with other members of the trauma team in the data collection process, shows a high level of proficiency in data management and validity, provides leadership within the department while working directly with the Trauma Medical Director and Trauma Program Manager.

Minimum Education: Has completed the basic professional curricula of a school of nursing as approved and verified by a state board of nursing, and holds or is entitled to hold a diploma or degree therefrom. Bachelor's of Science in Nursing preferred.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License. BLS, ACLS, TNCC (Instructor Preferred), ENPC (Instructor Preferred), Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR).

Work Experience: 3 - 4 years related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrates competency and professionalism in verbal and written communication. Proficient computer literacy with strong verbal and writing skills. Must be able to work in a complex environment subject to multiple changing priorities and demands.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Collaborates with all healthcare professionals to establish the standards of trauma care, and assures that all standards are current with the ACS (American College of Surgeons). Responsible for staying up to date with the NTDB data dictionary on an annual basis when changes are released. Responsible for assisting in developing, coordinating, and implementing trauma care policies/procedures regarding trauma care nursing. This role will act as a resource and consultant to all patient care areas within the hospital in regards to nursing care, problem solving, complication identification, and correction of any problems related to the trauma patients. Actively participates in educational activities, such as webinars, conferences, and other events to stay current with trauma best practices. Participates in providing outreach education and injury prevention to outlying communities. Actively involved in the peer review process, while working collaboratively with the trauma registrars, trauma medical director, trauma program manager, and the hospital quality department.

Decision Making: The carrying out of non-routine procedures under constantly changing conditions, in conformance with general instructions from supervisor.

Working Relationship: Coordinates activities of others (does not supervise). Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
