Schedule: Full Time - Exempt

Shift : Day Shift, Typically Monday- Friday, however hours will vary and occasional weekend shift may be required.

The role youll contribute:

The RN Trauma Program Specialist supports the optimal outcome for injured patients by coordinating key elements of the Trauma Process Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) Program which include patient care coordination, improvement of clinical process through active participation in the evaluation of patient care and the development and refinement of trauma care guidelines, protocols and trauma education and training. Oversees and maintains all aspects of the trauma PIPS program consistent with accreditation, designation, and verification requirements.

Participates in multi-disciplinary patient rounds.

Assists in developing and amending a plan of care to ensure appropriate treatment and return of the patient to expected outcomes and pathways following any quality issue.

Responds to trauma activations and assists with documentation, MTP recording, equipment, procedures, or other tasks delegated that are within his/her scope of care.

Tracks findings within the trauma process improvement program and documents loop closure of any findings (when applicable).

Documentation of all levels of trauma performance improvement and patient safety in the trauma registry to include case summaries, primary, secondary, tertiary reviews, action planning and loop closure.

Accesses the appropriate use of trauma protocols and guidelines are being followed by observation and chart review.

Reviews trauma team activations and assesses for appropriateness based on established criteria.

Actively participates in quality improvement initiatives and processes.

Actively participates in concurrent process improvement and evaluation of trauma care from pre-hospital through emergency room, operating room, inpatient and discharge. Shares opportunities with the trauma team in a concurrent manner.

Assists in training trauma staff and other hospital personnel by sharing information and providing education.

Participates in community activities related to trauma care and injury prevention as directed by leadership.

Assists with preparation for State and ACS reviews and verification.

Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops to remain current with industry changes.

Adheres to professional code of ethics and to all accreditation and regulatory requirements.

Adapts rapidly to changing technologies, policies, regulations, census and staffing through priority setting and flexibility.

The expertise and experiences youll need to succeed :

Minimum qualifications :

RN licensed in the state of Texas or qualifying compact state

BLS Required

TNCC or CATN Required

Completion of TOPIC Course within 12 months of hire

3 years recent of trauma related hospital experience (Emergency Department, ICU, Surgical/Trauma Floor)
