Trauma Nurse
Position OverviewThe Trauma Resource Nurse (TRN) has responsibility for concurrent trauma performance improvement and patient safety activities for the Trauma Center, working closely with the Trauma Medical Director (TMD) and Trauma Program Manager (TPM), to assure the provision of safe, efficient and effective clinical care to all injured patient by continuously monitoring, evaluating and measuring processes and clinical performance to reduce variation and improve clinical care. The TRN has responsibility for clinical integration with the trauma registry by working closely with the TPM and Trauma Registrars to assure accurate, concurrent clinical data abstraction and entry into the trauma registry. The TRN maintains clinical credentials and competencies as a RN to assist clinically with trauma patient care within the hospital as needed. Primary Department, Division, or Unit: UHS Emergency and Trauma Services Primary Work Shift: Day Rotational Regular Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Compensation Range: $40.70 - $61.05 per hour, depending on experience ----- Education/Experience Minimum Required: + Bachelor's of Science in Nursing. + A minimum of three (3) years of relevant trauma clinical experience in an in-patient setting and the trauma resuscitation area of a Level I or Level II trauma center. + Proficient computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite software programs & databases. Preferred: + 2-3 years of experience in performance improvement. + Proficiency working with clinical data registries. + Completion of the Trauma Outcomes & Performance Improvement Course (TOPIC) + Completion of the American Trauma Society’s Trauma Registrar Course + Completion of the Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine’s Abbreviated Injury Scaling (AIS) Course + Completion of Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) course License/Certification Minimum Required: + Registered Nurse – valid NYS license. + Current CPR Certification. + Current provider certification in Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) or Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN). + Helipad Operations and Safety within 3 months of hire.
