Transportation Supervisor - Logistics (Corporate 412 West)

Job Details:

This position is responsible for assisting with part of the product plan for several business groups, which incur transportation costs totaling over $ 37.5 million annually and process an average of 600 shipments weekly. The Transportation Supervisor will be responsible for the implementation and execution of the Senior Manager of Transportation’s overall business plan.

The Supervisor will interact closely with internal Customer Support, CSR, Sales, Production Planning, Distribution Center, and Transportation Team Members to resolve issues such as late orders, weight and cube discrepancies, and delivery appointment difficulties, while ensuring Tyson’s service standards are met.

Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to, creating optimal solutions to ensure customer service requirements are met while simultaneously completing the lowest-cost solution for combining LTL orders for a specific geographic region using Manugistics Tyson1 SIM Trucking TRKOPC TES, and performing other duties as needed. Weekend and After-hours work are a routine piece of responsibility. Emails and phone calls after hours are common. The Transportation supervisor will also have direct reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for tracking KPI reporting (Drops to close, Send ins, Previous customer held, weight reports) for load planning weekly.UFO (Underutilized Freight Opportunities), they will be expected to report on and report back to that team on results.Expected to float and be able to cover all facilities when it comes to load planning (Beef, Pork, Warehouses), a different system for tying different products.Cover vacations, sick time, etc. Cover for Sr. Supervisor Transportation (85),(Vacations, Sick time, Holiday season). Next up mentality, have them prepared to take the next step, when someone leaves or is promoted.Project management (Fresh Meats SAP conversion/System data cleansing/ customer profiles)Maintain routes and lanes in the Manugistics (the system we use to tie freight)

Additional responsibilities include collaborating with procurement and supply chain planning teams to align inbound and outbound transportation strategies with broader business goals and leveraging transportation management systems to enhance visibility and decision-making. The role also involves supporting new initiatives and maintaining key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement in service and cost metrics.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience: 1 plus years of transportation experience.

Computer Skills: Basic computer skills, Microsoft Office is a plus; Tyson Business Computer Systems, including Sales Inventory, SAP Transportation, Warehousing Systems, TES, Manugistics, Sessions

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and communication skills.

Supervisory: The position acts as a team leader, providing functional supervision to other members of the work unit by assigning work and training lower-level employees.

Travel: 1-5 domestic trips per year.
