ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB is seeking a forward-thinking Transportation Planner to join our expanding Transportation Planning team in Atlanta, Georgia. You will collaborate with a talented team, across diverse disciplines, giving you exposure to a wide variety of public projects in size and scope. You'll have the opportunity to support small- and large-scale transportation plans, transit-oriented development projects, corridor studies, safety action plans, and active transportation plans, and contribute to key infrastructure projects that improve community mobility.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with a team of experts to develop cutting-edge transportation engineering and planning solutions for multimodal projects.Research transportation trends, community demographics, and statistical data to support project objectives.Conduct multimodal planning and operational studies that enhance safety, efficiency, and mobility across transportation networks.Develop multimodal transportation planning studies, report documents, and transportation master and action plansDevelop creative solutions to address challenging safety and mobility problems in urban, suburban, and rural environmentsSupport project-related documentation for a range of transportation planning studies, demographic analyses, and multimodal/transit-oriented projectsConduct complex planning assessments using analytical tools such as GIS to evaluate data, identify trends, and develop documentation to summarize results.Perform field data collection and other on-site project support activitiesFacilitate meetings and prepare detailed meeting notesPrepare visual displays based on technical documentation and deliver compelling presentations to public agencies and stakeholders in person and virtuallyMaintain a client-service approach to deliver projects that exceed client expectationsSkills & Abilities
Working knowledge of principles and practices of planning, research, and data collection. Familiarity with state and local government transportation planning is preferred.Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsConsiderable organizational and analytical skillsTeam-oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner and collaborate effectively and positively with team membersSelf-motivated, highly organized, and detail orientedSkilled in using GIS and graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud).Proficient with Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to think criticallyMinimum Qualifications
BA in Planning or related area of study relevant to specialization (e.g., Urban Planning, Regional Planning, Civil Engineering, Urban Transportation Planning)Master’s degree a plus3-5+ years of planning or related experienceApplicants must be legally authorized to work for VHB in the U.S. without employer sponsorshipWe are VHB!
